参加NCAA的学校，根据其运动队的规模和水平，又可分为三个组或级别（Division)，
即I、II、III组，相当于我国的甲、乙、丙组。在不同的翻译版本中，将NCAA三个级别
的译法也有所不同，常用的译法有D-I、D-II、D-III，一区、二区、三区等，这些译法
对于中国读者来说不是很直观。为合乎我国类似的的分类办法，以下均称甲、乙、丙组
，人们很容易从中看出运动队的水平。一般来讲，学校相对较大、人数较多的院校参加
甲组比赛，相对较小的院校参加乙组或丙组的比赛，但NCAA本身并没有规定学校人数和
参赛组别之间的关系，参加哪一个组别的比赛由院校自己决定。乙组和丙组的主要区别
在于乙组院校可以为大学生运动员提供奖学金，而丙组的院校不能为运动员提供运动员
奖学金（运动员可以和普通大学生一样申请非运动类型的奖学金），NCAA对各个组别具

办每年一次的年会。如果投这些journal的conference，要是进了conference，最后基
本是guarantee能在那个journal里面publish的；即使没有被conference接受，就当作
一般的submission，还是会再考虑一遍是不是可以publish。
所以，我的理解是，要是一样投这些journal，要是文章正好符合他们conference的主
题，投conference是不是等于多一次机会，不知道这样的理解对不对。
另外一个相关的问题是，假设我有X，Y两篇paper，想去投A，B两个journal的
conference，deadline差不多，theme也差不多，A,B的quality也差不多，请问一下两
种策略，哪种对于junior faculty急于早点发paper更有利呢？（注：每篇文章同时只
能送一个conference，不能同时既送A又送B。）

，基本上和EE的journal paper没有什么差别。通常发了CS的conference后，就不一定再
去投什么journal.(象我老板就不鼓励我们这样去做)。所以CS的许多conference超越conf
erence本身，更象Conference & Journal.
而EE的4 page投稿的conference,也许更纯粹象conference.就是交流一下而已。所以呢，
EE里通常journal publications count much more.
从这个角度来说，EE领域的许多conference
(不是全部，当然有例外)和CS领域许多conference概念和重要性(当然还有难易程度)基本
上没有可比较性。

agement的年会。我们社会学的还可以参加sunbelt social networks conference，前次
在cancun开，但是因为正在学期当中，要带TA，没能去成。其实CONFERENCE很多，有的还
给提供食宿，路费，而不需要自己在学校系里申请钱。
我觉得不管在什么专业，中国人还是真应该多参加一些CONFERENCE。现在一篇AJS,ASR的
文章周期都是2，3年，文章等出来的时候，很多研究已经move on乐，在conference能看
到新的研究。不是说社会学要象电脑一样追新，但是知道一下新的动向总没有坏处。
还有就是在conference能有很多informal 沟通的机会，能和其他作相同题目的人谈，能
和其他中国人谈。
conference还给自己一个旅游的借口，:))

今天刚把草稿材料交给律师，因为想CLAIM 一些 Conference papers，律师要求
conference proceedings。 这一下有点麻烦，大多数会议都是几年前开的，
conference proceedings搬家时早就不知丢到哪里去了，网上也找不到，这样一来是不
是不能CLAIM Conference papers呢？

写了大概10封给一些一月初要due的conference，要求review或者加program
committee. 有一个conference很爽快的就把我放到program committee里面去了，但是
其他大部分连回音都没有。
请问一般conference在组织的时候，reviewer完全由program committee里的人自己
找，还是conference有一些集中的名单，还是两者兼具？
另外，1月初要due的conference，现在写信要求review询问是否太晚?
