for the stop sign ticket, at least in Illinois, it's a sever fault for stop
sign, normally only option is to go to court, if there is school nearby, you

想了很久，找不出什么理由。那天车速也不快，盯着前面的车，就是突然刹不下来。离
前面的车大概10米左右，车速不到50迈，可能更慢，记不太清了。刹车踩到底，我觉得
应该能停下来的，但是还是撞上了。前面车的bumper有点形变，我的车还好。会不会是
刹车问题呢？ 车是2010年的toyota corolla，才5000多迈。那天在下雨，路是湿的。

只能作为参考，出不出庭还是要自己衡量一下。
背景：VA居民，在Manassas, VA被抓。
事件：去年12月底在从另一城市机场回家的路上超速被抓，限速45，说我开了61。
罚款金额：如果直接认罪受罚，每超速1 mile是6刀，加上62刀的法庭费，一共158刀。
因为是第一次吃罚单，不希望有记录影响保险，而且想着万一胜诉，所以决定出庭。
出庭前：
（1）按照以往其他人的经验，首先要做的是推迟出庭时间。打电话给法庭，要求将原
本1月底的出庭时间延后，结果延后到2月25日，后来再次打电话想延后，被告诉无法通
过电话延第二次，如果要延，必须书面申请，然后由法官在开庭的时候决定。这点VA和
有些地方是不同的，网上看到过很多地方可以电话或者网上延两次。
（2）坐了一些准备，例如想了一些辩护理由。请两个同学写了书面testimony，但后来
上庭时法官说无法接受书面证词（这应该也和每个州的法律有关），必须出庭作证。

to go to traffic school.
Either way, since you are local, set up a time to go to court. The judge
will ask you your plea, either guilty, not guilty or no contest. Probably
the best thing to do is to say no contest. The judge will reduce your fine. |
