Reid Coolsaet (Canada's 2012 Olympian) to act as pace setter for Kenya’s
Stephen Chelimo in prestigious Toronto marathon. Coolsaet ran his PB (2:10:
55) in the same race last year paced by Chelimo!
“Stephen did a great job for me last year,” Coolsaet said this week. “And
I’m happy to pace him this year. It’s something I’d like to do anyway,
just to get out on the course.”

But there are actually two walls a runner can hit, only one of which has
affected him.
“There’s a wall where you run out of fuel . . . and I’ve never
experienced that in a marathon,” he says.

Reid Coolsaet 是加拿大当前最快的长跑运动员,他昨天赢了多伦多10K (28:35.7),
今年还要代表加拿大去伦敦奥运会跑马拉松,下面是他的采访:
Given his running regimen, Coolsaet says he could basically “eat anything”
he wanted and still keep his rake-thin physique.
But at least 3,000 of the calories on his daily menu would pass Canada Food
Guide muster.
“I eat a lot of food, but I try to make the bulk of it your vegetables,
fruit, whole grain and meats,” he says. “I’m pretty big on cooking my own

I was hoping to surprise myself this weekend and I did by running 62:42 in
the New York City Half Marathon. Luckily the weather was perfect and we had
a nice tailwind for the last 3 miles! It should also be noted that this
AWESOME course is net downhill by about 30 meters. The first 10km loop in
Central Park is rolling and by no means fast, it’s actually quite tough but

两个加拿大的应该都是专业的,有赞助商的。
我在中央公园出口应该看见这位老兄了,在Meb后面,同在第二集团。我看到Meb的时候
一愣,没想到他离第一集团差得那么远。又过了半分钟,Ryan Hall一个人孤零零的冒
出来,观众们就全傻眼了,只有人小声嘟囔一声“Ryan"。等等Kara美女领着女子第一
集团冲过来,才把气氛调动起来,一阵阵“Kara,Kara”的狂喊。

首先要提的是,这个Race前前后后发生了几件“坑爹”的事情:
第一件是本来比赛前的两三周是Taper的时候,可我偏偏在最后一个周末的Marathon
Pace 10k 中把旧伤Calf Sprain给整复发了,最后一周不但基本全歇菜,而且仅有的两
次Steady Run也觉得左小腿一阵阵隐约地痛。好在这两天版上正讨论Advil,我也学着
赛前赛中各两片,这事算是挺过去了。

2013年的PR系列就是在Burlington的辣椒半马开始的,当时半马PR 2分钟。2014因为有
了老三,跑步训练无法坚持,休息也无法保证,导致多马马失前蹄撞墙结束。下半年突
然得知纽约的报名条件又改了,不过这次是改容易了,35-39只需123,40-44只需125。
于是在没有训练的前提下抱着侥幸心理临时报名去跑了哈米尔顿的下坡半马,不过跟三
年前在那里的首马是同样的结局,撞墙大失败。
11月开始恢复偶尔跑步commute上班,从家去地铁站单程10公里,一天double就20公里
。有时候要送娃接娃,就把车开去停在火车站,从火车站跑7公里去地铁站。
过了圣诞节,开始正式的FIRST第一计划马拉松训练,为2015/5/3的密码(Mississauga
Marathon)做准备。选择FIRST是因为有proven track record,2013年的波马就是跟
FIRST在跑步机上练出来的。
因为2014年的几次比赛都跑砸了,这次跟FIRST就先把2013年的计划翻出来重用一遍,
目标成绩是刚好sub-3马拉松。跟了三周后觉得有些轻松,于是又制作了一个255的pace
