Just two days before the canonization of Pope John Paul II, a giant crucifix
erected in his honor collapsed in Italy, crushing a young man and killing
him, according to
A piece of the 30-meter (98-foot) high wooden crucifix fell down during an
event near the village of Cevo, in northern Italy, instantly killing the 21-
year-old man. The Jesus Christ figure attached to the cross is six meters
high and weighs 600 kg, according to AFP.
Witnesses reported that the victim was part of a visiting group... 阅读全帖

This illicit system of moving people across borders has become so common
that everyone in the hamlet of Do Thanh in Nghe An province seems to know
someone who has made the journey.
"I sent my three sons," said Phan Van Thuong, a wiry 64-year-old grandfather
with a crucifix tattooed on his chest. Two of them have already come back,
he said, after they were arrested and deported from Britain.

By Doug Hendrie, The Diplomat
‘I sometimes wish I was gay,’ says Mark, my taxi driver, risking a quick
glance as he navigates one of Manila’s extraordinary traffic tangles. ‘
Gays are very hard workers. They do well in business, in school. They are
more successful. Often, they are the breadwinners for an entire family.’ He
shrugs a little. ‘I admire them, actually. They—what is the word for
doing very well? Excel?’ Yes, I say. He sm... 阅读全帖

The Washington, D.C. Office of Human Rights confirmed that it is
investigating allegations that Catholic University violated the human rights
of Muslim students by not allowing them to form a Muslim student group and
by not providing them rooms without Christian symbols for their daily
prayers.
The investigation alleges that Muslim students “must perform their prayers
surrounded by symbols of Catholicism – e.g., a wooden crucifix, paintings
of Jesus, pictures of priests and theologians which man... 阅读全帖

来自主题: USANews版 - Merry War on Christmas!
I can’t wait to see what those courageous atheists come up with for Ramadan.
Christmas in America is a season of time-honored traditions — the sacred
performance of the annual ACLU lawsuit over the presence of an
insufficiently secular “holiday” tree; the ritual provocations of the
atheist displays licensed by pitifully appeasing municipalities to sit
between the menorah and the giant Frosty the Snowman; the familiar strains
of every hack columnist’s “war on Christmas” column rolling off the
key... 阅读全帖

Where is conservatism heading in the English-speaking world? This question
is currently being answered in the four countries of the Anglosphere —
namely, the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Britain — in four distinctive ways.
THE UNITED STATES
I will assume that American readers have a rough grasp of the state of
conservatism in the U.S. as revealed in the Republican primaries. It is
currently — as it has been for many years — a struggle for dominance in

Christians to Gays: We'll Accept Your Business and Donate Your Money to '
Traditional Pro-Family Lobby'
April 10, 2015 - 11:36 AM
By Michael W. Chapman
While gay activists are attacking Christian bakeries and wedding planners
and filing lawsuits to put them out of business because of their religious
beliefs, a Catholic priest has come up with a simple solution that, if
adopted nationally, likely could end much of the gay and left-wing offensive
in this realm.
Simply, accept all business from gay... 阅读全帖

An aspect of the kudzu-like expansion of Sharia is the takeover by Muslims
of prayer rooms in international airports.
Here in Hong Kong, a prayer room, officially nondenominational, is located
in Terminal 1 of the Hong Kong airport, and another is located in Terminal 2
. Each “non-denominational” prayer room supports Mohammedism, to the
detriment of all other religions.
The Terminal 1 prayer room has an Islam-required washup area. It is a
permanent installation. There is a similar permanent inst... 阅读全帖

Canadian bishop gets 15 months in child porn case
By ROB GILLIES | AP – 7 hrs ago.
TORONTO (AP) — A Canadian Roman Catholic bishop who admitted he was
addicted to looking at child pornography left court Wednesday a free man
after being credited for time served in his 15 month sentence.
Bishop Raymond Lahey was arrested at the Ottawa airport in 2009 after
customs authorities found almost 600 pornographic photos of young teen boys
on his laptop and a handheld device.

I agree on the resemblance... These shoes are featured in the fall
collection where Pilati, the creative designer of the fashion house, created
a strong religious flavor (although he denied upon it). The shoes were
matched up to all black outfits, oversized capes and hats, protective
plastic films, and long metal necklaces with pedants that look just like
crucifixes.
In that situation, with it's curvy cut and the hairs protruding from the
front and the back, the shoes actually made just the righ... 阅读全帖

Hugo's religious views changed radically over the course of his life. In his
youth, he identified himself as a Catholic and professed respect for Church
hierarchy and authority. From there he became a non-practicing Catholic,
and increasingly expressed anti-Catholic and anti-clerical views. He
frequented Spiritism during his exile (where he participated also in many s

When the cure of the parish came to administer the last
sacraments, the old man’s eyes, sightless, apparently, for some
hours, kindled at the sight of the cross, the candlesticks, and
the holy-water vessel of silver; he gazed at them fixedly, and
his wen moved for the last time. When the priest put the
crucifix of silver-gilt to his lips, that he might kiss the Christ,
he made a frightful gesture, as if to seize it; and that last effort

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
