Construction of the facility that will build the fuselage for the all-
new Bombardier CSeries mainline commercial jetliner has begun.
The event - another milestone in Bombardier's progress toward a 2013 entry-
into-service for the CSeries aircraft - was marked with a foundation stone-
laying ceremony last week at the site in Shenyang, China.
The 21,000 m2 facility will be operated by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (

For Airbus and Boeing, 2010 brought an orders bounceback that will surely
continue in 2011. In 2009, Airbus won 271 net orders while its US rival
notched just 142. But the relative buoyancy of the market in 2010 can be
gauged from tallies the airframers posted in November. For the first 11
months of the year, Airbus recorded 388 net orders. Boeing fared even better
, with a comparable figure of 489.

(1) The conventional wisdom was, the making a comercial airplane had an
extremely high threshold for ANY newcomers. The motion that a newcomer could
succeed is delusional. Taiwan tried to but failed (Aerospace Industrial
Development Corporation (AIDC) 漢翔航空工業股份有限公司 was founded in 1996).
Basically newcomers that are NOW breaking in are dead on arrival (DOA).
