of arms to Syria was technically violating an EU embargo on such shipments,
say Cypriot officials.
The vessel, however, was allowed to continue its journey Wednesday after
changing its destination.
The cargo ship, owned by St. Petersburg-based Westberg Ltd., left the
Russian port on Dec. 9 for Turkey and Syria, which is 65 miles (105
kilometers) east of Cyprus, the officials said.

then the bond holders, the the derivaitives counter parties. The depositor
should be the last one to lose any money. The problem now could be that, EU
wants to bail out the bond holder or the deritvatives counter parties but
not the depositors, and even worse, EU wants the dispositions to contribute
to the derivative counter parties. We can guess who the counter parties are

What's stunning about Saturday's bailout is that depositors with over 100K
euros in a Cypriot bank will see a 10 percent tax instantly before banks
reopen on Tuesday.
That will infuriate domestic savers, and it will mean that a lot of Russian
oligarchs/mobsters/money launderers/etc. will take big hits.

Cyprus, sources said told CNBC.
No levy will be imposed on any deposits in Cypriot banks, but there will be
a 'bail in' of Laiki depositors.
The draft proposal is subject to approval by euro zone finance ministers.
The euro jumped above $1.30 in early Asia trade on Monday on news that a
deal has been reached.
