Try this company:

They have a lot of surface mount heatsinks, there should be one for D2PAK,
thus you may not need to go with TO220 and punch some holes.
1Oz is too low for 40A unless you have room for very wide traces, I would
say at least 2 Oz.
Calculate, if not enough, use a TO220, fold it down, glue a insulator and a
big aluminimum stuff to its back. |
