本体论译自英文ontology，又译存在论、存有論或是论，它是形而上学的一个基本分支
，英语词ontology是来源于希腊语单词ον（存有）和λ?γο?（科學、研究、理論）
的组合。本體論主要探讨存有本身，即一切现实事物的基本特征。
有的哲学家，如柏拉图学派认为：任何一个名词都对应着一个实际存在；另外一些哲学
家则主张有一些名词并不代表存在的实体，而只代表一种集合的概念，包括事物或事件
，也有抽象的，由人类思维产生的事物。例如“社团”就代表一群具有同一性质的人组
成的集合；“几何”就代表一种特殊知识的集合等。
本體論就是「研究到底哪些名词代表真实的存在实体，哪些名词只是代表一种概念」。
所以本體論成为某些哲学分支的基础。近年來，人工智慧及資訊技術相關領域的學者也
開始將本體論的觀念用在知識表達上，即藉由本體論中的基本元素：概念及概念間的關
連，作為描述真實世界的知識模型。針對此一趨勢，W3C組織也開始定義了許多本體論
的相關語言，如RDF、DAML+OIL、OWL等。
基本问题
本體論的根本问题是：“存有的最初分类是什麽？”不同流派的哲学家对这个问题有不
同的解释。

最后一名作者手下干的。 下面信息是我从LINSLEY, PETER S.简历中读到的。至于chen
独立不独立我回答不了。只有少数人知道。
