Davis离湾区近，学费相对便宜，annual 3万刀，据说还比较容易拿TA，RA。。写推荐
信的美国老师建议是选Davis的Software Engineering强，而且做TA/RA可以得到教授推
荐，contact是非常重要滴。。。还有地理位置为王。。。
Duke排名高一点，CS排名: Duke(25th) vs Davis(35th)，综合排名: Duke(8th) vs
Davis(40+)，Duke学费贵annual $50000。。。那个写推荐信的老师说Duke排名高并不
是Software Engineer强，是因为系很大，SE以外的其他方向厉害。。
课程设置两家都很理论，毕竟是研究生的课，但找工作还是靠刷题。。
我觉得Davis很好，地理位置得天独厚，只是觉得吧Duke拒了挺可惜，毕竟人(wo)都有
虚荣心和名校情结。。。
我的目标就是去湾区找工作，不知道Duke的排名能否跟Davis的地理位置刚正面。。。
请坛子里的大神们支招，尤其是 UC Davis 和 Duke 的校友现身说法，造福群众，感谢

发帖数: 9806 | 3 五年前我也是在purdue和davis之间犹豫，最后还是选择了davis。我的建议是：
1. 首先确定你的导师是否nice，davis的ECE有一些老师可能比较push，另外ECE有些内
部政治斗争问题，你最好找师兄师姐们确认一下，至少自己导师不要属于混不下去的少
数派就好...
2. 搞明白你以后要不要做学术。Davis的一大好处是离硅谷比较近，离intel在folsom
的site也很近，所以实习相对好找。不过正如你说的，davis不算是传统的工科牛校。
3. 老师是不是IEEE fellow不说明任何问题。Davis这个档次的学校里，IEEE fellow都
好多，相信purdue更多。要说研究水平的话，我感觉很多年轻老师视野更开阔一点。
4. 最后，但其实是最重要的一点。加州的天气真的很不错。我在davis这几年，最大的
体会就是，选一个好老师远不如选一个好天气重要。 |

可以给大家科普一下，如有出入的话敬请指正。
有regulation的地方就有ass holes想要把规则制定得越复杂越好，这样懂规则的人才
能从中渔利，CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement)就是这么个例子。。。
常常在新闻里听xx球队顶薪签了xxx，仔细的球迷能看到了，咦这个A队签的顶薪球员怎
么挣得比B队少呢，这个呢，就要详细了解顶薪的规定才能理解了。
首先，顶薪的基本设定就是，根据在NBA打球的年限不同你可以拿整个工资帽的不同比
例，见下表：

，我基本都尽量不出去，某个夏天天天去游泳，晒成非洲人。冬天很舒服，根本就不冷
。。基本一件薄毛衣一件hoodie就搞定冬天了。不过davis比较干，刚开始去的时候不
适应。后来就慢慢好了。davis是个很安逸的地方，也很安全。离bay area，sac，lake
tahoe都挺近。楼主我觉得主要看什么专业，我觉得davis的工程有很多都是挺厉害的
，至于学生，我身边大多都是浙大交大中科大，也有清华北大，但是学生不能只看毕业
学校，也有其他一本的牛人的。 |

相对来说population比较年轻一点。别的sunrise，weston也都可以。不过从weston到
davie走I-595和从sunrise去davie走university drive, 早晚高峰时期堵车会是一件头

Davis夏天比半岛热15-20度，冬天冷10度左右吧。两地都呆过。 南湾没住过，但是偏
南偏东的地方听说还是挺热的。
Davis虽然夏天午后热，但是深夜至上午室外活动没问题， 因为有Delta Wind。这点比
德州好多了，所以即使最高气温相差不大，Davis舒服多了。Davis挺好的，就是LD找不
到工作，房价也比半岛便宜多了，非常适合小家庭，养老也很好。啥时房价跌了我囤一
个养老，哈哈。 |

合排名上看不出“本质”区别在哪里。要说UCLA的名气最大那还差不多。
如果是看研究生院，Davis,UCSC和UCSB都有自己的强项，那么从这些方向的人的角度来
看，除了UCR和UCM，其他几个分校也没有什么本质的区别。
“Davis目前招的faculty也没几个是top10 毕业的”——可见大家都是从自己的或者邻

择UC系统。Davis的气候太差，深秋和冬天又有浓雾，比国内的雾霾还严重的东西，能
见度有时候是0，开车很容易出问题，人身体也受不了。UCLA, UCSD, UCSF等等都要好
很多，可惜楼主要去的是Davis. |

Davis 距世界级的滑雪胜地及世界级旅游城市均只有2小时。若干国家公园都在几小时

发帖数: 1921 | 22 UCD冬天真不冷，我在那6年，没见过一次下雪，冬天下雨特别多。我是非常讨厌雪天里
开车的。
夏天会有几天很热，但到了晚上气温立马将下来，还会感觉凉爽。而且即使热，也是那
种干燥的热，不是闷热。
Davis算是治安最好的小镇了，警察就两件事，一是把偶尔出现的流浪汉扔回Sacrament
，二是晚上抓骑自行车不带灯的开罚单。全镇一多半人口是学生、老师和员工。
Davis有全美最长的自行车道，所以学校6、70的老教授每天都骑车上班。坏处是自行车
可能被偷。我就丢过前轮。
地理位置很好，去三藩也就一个多小时，父母不用转机，直飞三藩即可。
Davis房价也不贵，学区非常好，就一所公立高中，质量非常好。 |

的错觉？
UMich，那地方更纯粹一点，我觉得像加州这种中国人老墨多的地方，总是少了点信仰
和文化味，而且一到秋天红叶层林尽染，像活在梦境里，说冬天难受的各位太矫情了，
况且你们怎么不说UMich天堂般的夏天和秋天呢。

致Davis身体失去平衡，但他还是再抬头看球，只是脸的位置要低很多。DH 注意力在上

，都是司机，有保险，欲再寻2人一起自驾去黄石游玩，做伴共享车油费和美景。 基本
安排是第一天驱车从加州Davis到达盐湖城，看看大盐湖风光，当天或者第二天一早看

起)，可住两人，安静小马路，无中介费，现lease到8月31日，长租可以与房室公司签
lease，因工作原因转租。$1650包水暖，四楼中的二楼，有空调，洗碗机，烤箱，7个
月前新换的冰箱，disposal, 衣橱，鞋柜，简易桌子，地下室有laundry，off-street
parking ($100/mo)，使用9个月的queen size床可赠送（床垫视情况可能也可以）。房
屋公司服务很好，维修很快，报修过两次当天均可解决。交通生活非常便利，走路去
davis square地铁站5分钟，沿路有b fresh超市，cvs, 好吃的redbones 及各种餐馆等
；红线5站到chinatown去中国超市很方便; porter square走路10分钟也有红线, 有
star market，人气拉面店(Yume Wo Katare), csv等；天气好可以走路20 min或者一站
