受采访时指出，美国「无力应对」确诊病例激增的新冠病毒危机，纽约市的医疗物品即
将耗尽，需要更多的口罩、隔离服还有呼吸器。他也敦促政府成立一个全国性的医疗队
伍，因为医院根本无法处理如此大量的病患，希望有更多的医护人员到纽约市帮忙。
综合外媒报导，白思豪表示，纽约市必须在周日（5日）之前找到330万个N95口罩、210
万个外科口罩、10万套隔离服以及400台呼吸器，以便为下一批到来的确诊病患做好准
备；此外，医生跟护士都因为长时间的工作筋疲力尽，纽约市需要增援部队的帮助，以
便让这些人拥有一些休息时间，才有办法继续工作。
白思豪在接受MSNBC的采访时说，在确诊病例大量发生得情况之下，美国「无力应对」

假，紐約也是繼舊金山、新澤西州坦納佛萊後，第3個農曆年放假的城市。
農曆新年是美國亞裔最重要的傳統節慶，合計全美超過870萬亞裔慶祝農曆新年。不過
除了猶太裔的猶太日和義大利裔的哥倫布日（Columbia Day）已是紐約的公定假日外，
農曆新年不在其中，對人口急遽增長的亞裔群體來說，難免遺憾。
推動農曆新年成為公定假日是一條漫漫長路。早從2002年，時任紐約市議員的劉醇逸即
提出農曆新年成為紐約公定假日法案，儘管支持者眾，最後仍被猶太裔的市長彭博否決。
現任國會聯邦眾議員孟昭文在擔任紐約州眾議員時，大力奔走呼籲將農曆新年納入公定
假日，加上華裔紐約市議員陳倩雯、顧雅明積極發聲，終於有成。
在各方引領期盼下，紐約市長白思豪（Bill deBlasio）兌現競選承諾，去年6月終於宣
布大年初一為國定假日，並從今年開始所有公立學校學生，農曆春節放假1天。
