Arches National Park
休整了大半天，次日我们就驱车前往紧邻着Moab的Arches国家公园。Arches于
1969年从national monument改成国家公园，因园内大量形态各异的天然红石
拱而吸引无数的游客，实际上园内有记录的各种岩拱有约2000个，跨径从3英
尺到306英尺，而其中最负盛名的Delicate Arch，已经几乎成为尤他州的标志，
州内车牌上的图案就是它。
因为Arches对我们早已经如雷贯耳，所以这个公园自然是我们拍片的重头戏，
打算这一整天就泡这了。进了公园我们首先跑到Visitor Center去问公园管理
员，最有名的Landscape Arch和Delicate Arch应该什么时间去比较好。管理
员告诉我们，前者上午去而后者下午去比较好，因为到了下午Landscape Arch
处于背光位置。听了介绍，我们便离开Visitor center直奔Landscape Arch.

Bryce是个小公园，你开车看看几个小时就够了。现在这个季节Zion canyon里面不能自
己开车了，你从Bryce出来走US9穿过Zion，过把隧道看电影就行了。Zion值得不同季节
去几次，每次专门花几天玩，把narrow, subway, angle landing都走走才有意思
day3/4/5/6可以酌情加减，到las vegas赌一把才是正事，好吃好喝解解乏，第二天去

Day 2 : Drive to Zion in the morning. Sightseeing. Winter is not a good time
for Angel's landing and Narrows hiking. Leave Zion around 4pm and stayed
near the entrance of Bryce.
Day 3 : Bryce. Hike Queen's Garden Trail and Navajo Loop. Stop by other view

英国 Will Durant 写的名著《世界文明史》的第一卷《Our oriental heritage 》。
从名字看就是明显的西方中心。写于上世纪初期，其中对中国的描写还不错。我发现，
从16世纪到20世纪初期，凡是对东方有一点了解的，基本都是对中国观感不错。
但是在50年代以后，也就是中共上台，西方历史著作对中国人整体的评价急转直下了。
