一个近期媒体上常常出现的表述,把我给弄迷糊了,那就是“北上广”。第一次见到
有记者用这个做标题,竟然琢磨了半天,死活想不明白这是个并列结构还是个动宾结构,
抑或是“北把广给上了”。再读报道,才恍然大悟:原来是北京、上海和广州三座大城市
的缩写。那一刻,我深深被这种来路不明的创造力所折服,却也同时为这个民族使用了几
千年的语言文字悲哀。
其实,这种毫无文化根基的“创造性”在今天的日常生活中已经屡见不鲜,这从一些
外国专有名词的中译名就能看个大概。民国时期延续下来的外国国名翻译,大多优美典
雅,如“丹麦”“瑞典”。一位做专职翻译的朋友曾半开玩笑地对我说:如果放到今天,
他敢打包票,这俩国家一定会被译成“丹马克”(Denmark)和“斯威登”(Sweden)。当然
,这是创造力低下的表现,还不算最可怕,因为至少没有让人摸不到头脑。比较高级的不
