相对之下，南方目前势头看起来不错。
而且，学校的实力的变化有时候就是抓住一个机会的短暂窗口，比方说加州的
很多现在大名鼎鼎的学校（Stanford, Caltech)以前都是没有什么吸引力的，
但是他们在美国西岸经济起飞的时候抓住机会引进了一大批非常优秀的人才，
把学校的水平提高了层次，然后后来进来的人也就水涨船高了。 |

some of his postdocs suffered. If you ask his wife, maybe you will get the
most accurate answer when taking him as just a "person". |

There are oncologists or cancer biologists better than him, but just handful
. He did not graduate from Harvard, JHU or UCSF. So, it is less likely he
could become the top guy at the top five institutions. But Texas
institutions have not adopted such discrimination against outsiders.
BTW, you should not overlook his wife, who is doing something truly
translational.

是做低等model或者纯计算，又或去其他学校，二百万怎么也有的。基本上相当于双倍
其他州同等级的package.

情况那么糟，哪出得起这么高的价钱。
你说的那都是特别优秀的，可以拿到CPRIT的大钱。一般的根本没戏。 |

发帖数: 1764 | 37 没有CPRIT的钱，顶尖人才很难被吸引到德州来。能拿到CPRIT的主，手里基本都是好几
个offers.
BCM的心气还是很高的，而且招新人只是小钱，省也不会省到这上面。德州以前招揽功
成名就的人不太顺，但培养新人的历史一直很辉煌。很多人在这里发家，然后就moved
to coasts. |

有clinical收入，来面试的faculty candidate都是灰常不错的，McNair是funding性质
的捐赠，目前有神经，糖尿病，乳腺癌几个方向，都有很不错的faculty加入。另外比
如Dan Duncan Cancer center, Children's nutrition center也在招人
