i think they are equivalent, well, besides the difference between said and
told.
and the subjects are a little confusing.
if your examples are:
Tom said, "James doesn't think before he does something."
Tom said James didn't think before he did something.
Then I would think they are equivalent.
and you sentence has a problem. "You don't think before deciding what to do"
is not a very logical sentence. if he decided, then he obviously thought
about it. I think it would sound better if you said,"yo

it is true the newer office applications have some defect due to WPF, but
just bought an Windows 8 laptop from ASUS (which is ultra slim), and the
user experience is really good. I didn't even bother installing firefox or
chrome. the new ie is very fast actually. I was concerned of not being able
to get used to windows 8, but I would say win8 is more user friendly than
mac, the typing search is a killer.Install sql 2012 and visual studio 2012

After I finished my FAR, because of the printer problem I didn't received my
Printout for the Completion of Exam. the test center provided me a ticket
number to call. However I still couldn't get the copy of it.
what is the information on the Printout(does it provide information to check
my score late?)
do I need to call NASBA to verify my exam had been taken in order to get
score report later.

Prologue
Once upon a time, Tim and I were trashing talking. Tim said something like
