hydrochlorothiazide). So basically the doctor kept the diovan dose the same
while increased the dose of hydrochlorothiazide.
I don't know what your dad's usual blood pressure readings are, so I can't
comment on what stage of hypertension he is in right now. I'm guessing the
doctor wanted better control of his blood pressure (probably the reading
taken at his recent office visit was a little bit high?), so the doctor
doubled the HCTZ |

Diovan compound patent is US 5,399,578, it doesn't have a corresponding
Chinese patent, which means this compound is not protected in China (
although it's protected in HongKong by HK219996). This can be easily found
out if you know how to use EPO worldwide patent database. Do the number
search and check the worldwide patent in the same patent family.

which would cover prior art disclosed/claimed information. Even such
claims are included in the later filed applications, unlikely these claims

40 yrs old is relatively young. It is advisable to rule out 2nd cause of HTN
in renal aspect and endocrine aspect.
Social history/surgical history---cigarette smoking? Acute pain, or recent
surgical history?
Per JNC 7, 160/100 is stage II. Most likely he needs two HTN meds to control
his HTN per JNC7.
Try to ask the drug company or physician office. See if there is coupon for
the combination of ARBs and HCTZ. In our state, after coupon discount, pt
