- Array.Find() and its variations for general purpose search.

思想的萌芽是一个方面,这个东西方差别多大肯定是有争议的。思想萌芽赖以生长壮大
的土壤同样重要(如果不是更重要的话)。弹个老调,主要是一些历史学家的观点。中
国没有发展出西方的现代科学,直接的原因在于最早发展出一套十分完备的中央集权官
僚系统,这个是从秦始皇开始的。这个同样是一种很不简单的文明,而且在农业社会里
行之有效两千年,在大部分时间里,中国一直是世界第一的超级帝国。但是,这个制度
可能同样扼杀了现代科技的产生和兴起。按唐德刚的说法,西方是社会强于国家,中国
则是国家强于社会。Boorstin在他的"The discoverers"里在回顾了一段科学产生的历
程之后专门有一节讲东西方的不同。开始同样是夜观天象,分四季,制历法。西方逐渐
发展到制作钟表(仿照天体运动),钟楼立到大街上为大众服务,然后到制作便携式手
表为大众使用,成了一个产业。而在中国,古代天文学同样发展的水平很高,许多天文
记录比如超新星等还是世界独有的。但是天文历法只限于为皇家服务,而且是高级机密
,大众绝对不可以染指,就不用说什么产业了。另外,大一统的农业社会里重农轻商轻

although he didn't practice much), professor, curator, director of
Library of Congress, etc.

oracle use universal installer to install its product.
universal installer comes with every product but actually
it is independant with indevidual product.
there are some bugs with universal installer with version < 2.
it doesn't like some hardware/software introduced after
itself. sometimes, it doesn't work with P4. sometimes,
it doesn't work with newer versions of jre. if that is the
case, please download oracle 9i and start the setup program
in the disk1 directory. in the first several instal

所有的设备都挂到linksys上自然是最简单的。但我这的问题是linksys十天半月的就抽
风,wifi连不上了,需要命令行里把interface重新down/up一下。
这样的话就需要有另一个路由器的网,用来telnet进linksys。所以我就保留了两个路
由器上的wifi。但总有设备不经意间连到第一个wifi上,所以我就再想办法让第二个子
网里的samba server在第一个子网里也是discoverable. 这应该跟netbios有关,但不
了解。
貌似最合理的方案是linksys既保留一个ip,都又不负责分配ip,所有设备都由modem上
的router分配ip. linksys只提供ethernet的接入.

The most impoirtant discoveried are always thought out by several persons at
ther same time? It may not be true.
In my case, I was the first one to report the discovery with solid data.
Somebody may try to scoop it. But the audience of my talk know who are the
first discoverer. None of the senior professors in my field who listened to
my talk and whom I discussed with mentioned anybody else who did this.

有人始终说原创最重要,但是前些年的gene silencing 颁奖时,委员会宣称最早发现
这一现象的植物学家(很多人在Nature上发公开信鸣不平)没有搞清机理所以没获奖,
很多年前,大家都知道的Salk 也没有获奖;后面HIV颁奖时,又宣称发现病毒比证明该
病毒导致艾滋病更重要,这样正好解释某个Co-discoverer (Science的评价) 不能获奖
。例子很多,自相矛盾,获奖的名垂青史,被漏掉的郁郁而终,都是TM那几个委员会的
