大會）「把次經加入聖經裡面」，因而以這一個為指控天主教是異端的一個主要罪名。
首先，在今日新教，尤其是基要派的立場，聖經是三十九卷舊約和二十七卷新約（經

的宗教根源。乍听起来，这个命题类似一个悖论，因为宗教被一般认为是给人带来救赎
而非死亡的（邪教除外），怎么会成为滥杀无辜的的肇因了呢？有人将之归咎于某一宗
教本身的偏执与野蛮。而这不是与上述对宗教的假定自相矛盾吗？因此进一步追究时，
就会发现（至少是部分）原因来自那一宗教所信奉的经书中偏执和野蛮的段落。按理说
，不去理睬那些与现代文明格格不入的教导，甚至将它们从经书中剔除出去不就行了吗
？经书是死的，人是活的。活人干嘛要让尿憋死呢？脑残啦不成？
然而答案竟然是：不行！为什麽呢？因为那是当年老祖宗留下来的“宝贵”遗产，必须
原封不动地接收下来。谁想哪怕对“祖制”动一根手指头，俺就跟他急（怎么听都像是
慈禧老佛爷的话），因为咱是原教旨。当然标准答案是，那是神启，因此不可能出错。
即便有人把那些教导付诸行动，从而违背了立教的初衷，也在所不惜。当然现代人把这
些不知好歹，专把经书的暴力情节拿到现实舞台上上演的小丑称为极端分子。然而如果

IMHO, "evolution theory" to biology is not comparable to thermodynamics to
chemistry.
thermodynamics is the foundation and provides guidance to feasibility of
chemical reactions & stability. It has a rigorous theoretical framework backed with empirical data measured accurately in well controlled lab environments. It offers repeatability and predictability (on the feasibility of chemical reactions) -- a trait of all true successful theory IMHO.

Sadly, upon looking a bit more closely we find that in spite of threats and
torture, Calvin's Geneva was not as righteous a city as the selected optimis
tic stories seem to indicate. The surviving records of the Council of Geneva
unveil a city more similar to the rest of the world than Calvin's admirers
would like to admit. These documents reveal "a high percentage of illegitima
te children, abandoned infants, forced marriages, and sentences of death." 4
