an hour of practice everyday. waist control is important
for later development, but if just jam w/ a band you
don't have to have do that long. i know drummers practice
on pad for 30 min everyday for life -- jim chapin is known
for carrying his pad and sticks all the time. and he has
been playing for what, 60 or 70 years.
teacher is important, and i'd suggest start w/ jazz drummer,
many rock drummers don't have the right techniques. |

my favorite drummer/vocal is fred from cowboy mouth. i've seen them
live and they are a great hard rock band. down to earth style.
everyone wants to be the frontman, that's why everyone picked up
the guitar in teh first place. but i don't really care, i kinda
like the drummer, being teh backbone in the behind.
i can't sing anyway, years of smoking and heavy drinking has devasted
my voice. |

25 heavy alternative band, some names like Godsmack, Saliva,
Powerman 5000, stonesour, skinred, american hi fi, theory of deadman
and seether etc etc, oh and 3 doors down
theory of deadman was most impressive, seether has a great drummer,
saliva is great, except their drummer paul got hit on the mouth
w/ a bottle full of water and quit after 1st song.
concert lasted 10 + hours, totally exhausted, a couple of folks

but i studied some drumming from Dick Cully, a great bigband jazz drummer.
nothing fancy, big band is really really old stuff...folks like buddy rich.
then i listened to jack johnson, liked his drummer a lot. i like brush sound
quite a lot.
i had electronic set, and yes it's very convenient but decided to get a
traditional shell drum. cymbal is one thing (a lot of people use real cymbals
w/ e drum) i didn't like the skin feel either. lower end one |

surprisingly created only by a guitar and drummer dual. Jack White is a
great and unique guitar player. If I ever played rock guitar I would like to
play like him with strong foundation rooted in folk and blues, sounds a
little bit like AC/DC mixed with Bob Dylan. The black keys is a another good
example of this type of guitar and drummer duel. Simple and powerful riffs

I’m sorry but the London Opening Ceremony was a huge failure. I’m not sure
why “some” media outlets are calling it the “Best” or the “funniest”
thing they ever saw.
While the headlines may say how great it was, the rest of us in the “real
world” knows how lame, pathetic, boring, and how uninspiring it was.
I wasn’t moved, I wasn’t entertained, and was actually board.
The only bad thing about the Beijing Opening Ceremony was the racist NBC
