, 80多万congressional earmark. 学校比teaching school好不了多少，有个research
center，也没什么人在干活，我去要钱他们都很appreciate. 其他funding 也是，我
有意思参与他们都高兴得不得了，所以co 的很多，学校也都count。所以从来也没想着
和牛人们去争NSF, 自知我这种2，3流的research 水平也竞争不过，整天都在和city,
state official，或industrial people 打交道，觉得funding的来源其实很多。这次
拿到NSF 我很高兴，第一次写NSF，感觉自己research 水平也在进步。
他们去年就提前一年给我升了associate，说tenure 没法早弄，先把工资给加了，我就
很高兴的受了。
我其他也没什么，在领域的society 混到一个technical committee chair. Teaching,

多投了30个开题报告，涉及的完全不关连的方向七八个。写开题写到看心脏科医生。你
们经历过么。
现在基本靠以前硕士时候积累的方向，自己再选了新题目在做。博士期间的方向，联邦
不给钱，公司圈在加州，我在鸟不拉屎的地，只能先放下了。 估计大牛，老李一类很
难体会白手（空实验室，连p H计都没有）起家，拿2.5M（USDA， NSF， DOE）的难度
。加上烂校一般学生都有这样那样的问题。我这来一年就走的学生一共三个，加起来就
一个博士的钱了。当然我最好的学生可以拿1/400 (400申请人中只选一个)的
Fellowship。
今年傻逼校方还Fail了七个Tenure 申请，总共19个人申请Tenure. 我是去年十二月份
就知道自己过了。系里的所谓DISTINGUISH教授也没拿过NSF和USDA的正规项目（全是
EPSCOR和EARMARK）。 |
