首先，他频繁应用的“空相”，是指某颗行星没有和其他9颗行星中的任一颗有合相、
二分、三分、四分和六分相。这五个相位称为托勒密相位，因为希腊托勒密在《四书》
(Tetrabiblos，人类历史上印刷量最大的占星书)中只使用这五种相位。
但是，Tyl把“空相”命名为Peregrine——这是一个古典占星中已经定义过的概念（被
翻译成“浮游”）。它原是指行星没有弱陷却没有享受到庙、旺、三分性、界、面这五
种黄道本质力量的任何一种，即只和星体的黄道位置有关。Tyl对现代占星有着巨大的
影响力，所以他的讲法引起了混淆。
很多占星师将“空相”命名为"Unaspected"，笔者支持这个说法。
也就是说，一颗空相（Unaspected）的行星，可以和轴点或南北交点有托勒密相位，
也可以和其他行星有非托勒密相位（Minor Aspects）如45度，72度，150度等。
至于为什么只有托勒密相位才算作"Aspected"，初学现代占星的朋友可以简单理解为：
