2-3 months new seagate external 1.5TB hard drive (7200.11) dropped from 2
feet high place carpet while it was being used. I took it out of the
enclosure but i cannot get the data back. Can I assembly the external hard drive and then still send it back to Seagate for repair/replacement or something else?
would opening enclosure void warranty for external hard drive?
I did leave some visible marks on the enclosure case while I was opening the enclosure with a knife. |

perhaps because of the "limit 1 per customer due to flooding in Thailand"

你把硬盘取出来，先看看PCB电路板，有没有明显的burn？
Yes，看来得换PBC板，就能把数据读出来。
No，是不是接通电源后，硬盘有spin，但有clicking sound，然后就停了？
最好能找个external hard drive enclosure，
将硬盘放进去，再弄个zip bag，把整个HDD和enclosure放进去，排尽空气密封好。
将zip bag放入冰箱冷冻室，overnight至少。
次日从冰箱取出，接上数据线和电源线，通常可以正常使用1～2 hour。
如果你要备份的数据很多的话，推荐就把enclosure留在冷冻室里工作，把线接出来连
再laptop上，可以持续工作很久。
注意减少冷临水的产生，防止短路就行。你找回数据的可能性还是很大的 ：） |

看你想不想折腾，会不会折腾了。
我现在没有时间折腾，一般还是直接买外置的。不用internal+enclosure的办法。不见
得能省多少钱，而且做enclosure好象没有听说任得过的牌子。
硬件还是integrated的好。WD,seagate做的enclosure质量上还是有保证的。而且他们
最了解自己的硬盘。
但从软件层面上，这些公司的软工都不行。太cheap了，招不到好的软工。
企业级的都用EMC这些公司的软件。个人cloud的软件市场好象还是真空吧。 |

发帖数: 328 | 27 前阵子买的maxtor300G硬盘一直没动，没有格式化。今天把它装到外置enclosure中(能支
持300G以上)，但是相应的盘符一直没有出现在explorer中。查看control panel->system
->hardware->device manager发现该设备的状态正常。换了几个enclosure同样的问题。
我估计可能是没有格式化的问题。请问各位有无碰到同样的问题。我想确认一下盘没坏。
不过如果没有格式化便不认对我来说很麻烦，因为我只有笔记本，只能放在enclosure中
了。是不是非得找一台台式机来格式化。 |
