If both opps follow on 3rd C. We now play S6, cover whatever west plays.
East is endplayed. East could cash last C if he has it (dummy discard

If west has 5 C, east will be endplayed after we play S. If east has 5

p*********6 发帖数: 679 | 3 I am sure there is a better line out there. But I would play as follows.
Draw trumps (keeping trump K); Cash H AK; exit C;
- if W wins, the contract becomes cold (at best W plays another C, S then
discards H; W canot avoid being endplayed when E switches to D).
- if E wins, E has to switch to D (if C, S discards H, W canot avoid being
endplayed); assuming W wins and switches back to C; if E has CK, declarer
ruffs and plays H. Now if H is 3-3 or Q in W hand, declarer can still get
the 10th trick ... 阅读全帖 |

Now we already know whether west has any 4+ cards in H D or C. If he doesn't
have any 4+ suit beside S, we cash all H D C winners, and endplay west in S
if needed.
If west has 4+ C, we cash two red Qs, and at 4-card ending, he will have
either SJTx Cx or SJT Cxx. For the former, we strip his C, and endplay him
with S. For latter, we set up a S.

s********e 发帖数: 31 | 8 Interesting hand, east is squeezed in 3 suits.
(1) pitch a spade, ended up the actual play
(2) pitch a diamond, you can cash Club and exit with a club to endplay him
(3) pitch a club, even worse.
His partner could helped him by not pitching clubs when you cash diamond.
But the opening lead look really like a 4th best.
Nice played! |

w****b 发帖数: 623 | 9 It seems the only way to make this is to take a dummy
reversal -- taking 3 ruffs -- and then endplay South in D.
So 3D + 6 trumps. Defenders probably fell from grace by
trying to take a forcing game. |

I think the best chance is to play partner for DQ so switch to a low D. If he

control in S, the only thing he can set up for pitch.
Occasionally it's right to find pd's ruff. In many cases the declarer blasted

w****b 发帖数: 623 | 12 Play suggests that west has 4-3-3-3 shape and she was thinking of overruffing
but was afraid of getting endplayed afterwards.
So play 3 rounds of C, ruff in dummy and exit with a H and hope west leads to
your SAT. |

w****b 发帖数: 623 | 13 A D lead would break up the endplay in D and. When East gets in 1st time, he
can simply play DJ to knockout the DA. When get in second time, E can cash

south's hand. NS can get no more than 3S, 2C, and 2D. |

|
w****b 发帖数: 623 | 17 Looks easy, you either have to bring in the C, or try for a strip squeeze
against E, when he has to protect both C and S. You run D to find out possible
distribution of E 1st.
If west shows more than 1D, then you come to the ending
- x - AQTx vs Ax KJ x. East will have to keep 2S and 3C so he can't keep any
H, and you endplay him with a S.
The worst case is when west shows a total of 3 cards in S and D, then you need
to guess whether he bid H with 7 or 8 cards.

when LHO holds QJxx xx AJxx KJxx, in that case, he'd open 1C for sure.
Declarer may hold Qxxxx xx AJ KJxx, in that case you have to play low
otherwise, you may crash partner's SJ, which is your setting trick.
And you can't blame partner not to play SJ after SA, cause partner
may think her SJ can score a trick if declarer holds SKQ9xx.
Also, you don't need to worry about endplays, cause dummy also holds
3 spades.

You can definitely construct hands where 4H or even 3H has no chance. You can also say that these expert players are very undisciplined. But the fact still remains, that "they" win much more games than we do.
Also note that this is not really a perfect "magic hand": the mirror shape... 阅读全帖 |

You couldn't even provide any bridge argument on why you have to bid 4H with

fit your DQxx, HKT9x and CJ9xx to have a less than 50% game, which can be

spades because he plays trump echo. Therefore, declarer holds only 5 spades,
perhaps something like KJTxx xx Axxx xx. Partner's D8 has to show some
interest in D. The safest return now is certainly H. because declarer may
have some problems return to hand. D return is also usually safe, unless
partner signals D8 from 8x. Even if that's the case, I don't think it

declarer usually has D shortness. Based on this guess, it's normal to
encourage H. If declarer holds 2H + 1D, D switch shouldn't work in many

lot of good club holdings like AJx, KQT.
