第一个工作用8年，做纯技术不小心混到technical assistant to the Sr.VP 兼一个主
管部门的 Engr. Manager(大概 1万人的公司）。不太搞什么Leadership，底下的基本
上都服从，也出活。好像是第3年起就管Engr. Sr.Engr, Prin. Engr.
证明自己之后，就挥挥手辞职读书去了。（Ivy 类学校，还是读 Engr。）
然后又从头开始。。。还是纯技术。这次就死活只想做Engineer，喜欢那份清静和单纯
。有时候解决的问题会不小心惊动最上面的技术层，以及不同的部门 - 大概这就是所
谓的Vasibility？有成果主动给大家分的，不突出自己。薪水还好，时不时有些少量的
Stock， 后来有些RSU，杂七杂八加起来16-7万吧。被雷风险不大，提个人要求会被很
快满足 （有的需要3级以上的Manager去提，第4级的批准）。（几十万人的公司）
就这样。 |

如果是我，“证明自己”绝不会成为目标，因为“证明自己”的目的是给别人看，对自
己，对别人都无多大的益处。我会去追求益处：对自己有益处，对别人有益处，对社会
也有益处。 因此，如果是我，我会去在职读个MBA,然后再担当起更重要的岗位，这样
，对家庭，对别人， 对公司都有益处。

embedded SW engr/firmware engr.这类工作比一般的CS出身的IT SW engr opening要
少,更依赖经验和行业积累.但是embedded sw engineer工作中要求的技能要比CS出身的
更强,rtos,c/c++, asm,matlab, C#,java, python,perl,make scripts,vhdl 都要能写
会用;熟悉emulators,多种microprocessors/dsp, 会各种测试仪器,知道如何测试软件
和硬件;读懂IC的datasheet,hw design schematics/pcb, 和硬件工程师能talk;懂各类
串并行总线,know-how on system integration;懂process and spec ,这个依赖于不同
行业
另外就是绿卡,好的embedded sw工作大部分都在defense,avionics,或者需要export control的企业,没卡,就没有敲门砖 |

electromagnetic analysis, cfd etc. there is also design group, or cad group,
who does the drafting work. in my view, being a product engineer has much
more fun than performing fea. if you are a prod engr, you can visit
customers, suppliers, you can go to plant and see the manufacturing lines,

在我找工作时期的鼓励和帮助。
我是ME的major，phd做的是MSE的很基础的研究，所以找industry的工作面临两大难点
：一个是找ME的工作还是MSE的工作，二是怎么找：找ME的把我专业知识太少且没有美
国工作实习经历；找MSE的把我做得太基础没什么公司有职位. 后来决定重点找ME的，
但也关注MSE的。中间ME的面试有数个，但都不得善终。最终这个工作是MSE的。
在monster/cb上post resume （ME/MSE的都有）,被recruter联系。很幸运的得知对方
公司希望找MSE并且对我所作的研究很感兴趣。确定电面。
2天后电话面试，与未来boss(director).谈得挺好，当时确定面试。问题包括自我介绍
，研究背景介绍，工作签证问题，还问了我几个比较细节的研究方面的问题。一共一个
小时。
2周后飞去公司所在城市，一整天面试包括1VP/4 director/2 manager/2 Sr. Engr/HR.

发帖数: 869 | 49 ME的major,国内硕士和这边博士都是作的纳米/复合材料什么的，也做过简单的fea什么的。现在工作的公司的title是product r&d engr，主要就是"找"新材料。没有lab work，纯粹找小公司/实验室的新产品，然后联系研发或者应用到本公司产品上。需要点专业知识，但不觉得很有技术含量，不知道这种工作的未来是什么方向。。。

见了6个人，1个HR,5个搞技术的，从Sr Engr 到VP 都有。职位级别较高的4个搞技术的
，都聊的不错。其中职位最高的是VP,下来直接向vp汇报的一个人A，和我基本是同一方
向的。以前开会合作过一次，这次见面后，聊了一下，对我似乎非常满意，回我的
thank you letter里面说他会强烈支持我被该公司雇佣。现在新成立的正在招人的部门
也是受A的鼓动成立的。
然后有一个老印SR Engr，也是和我一个方向的, 是受A推荐刚从竞争对手的公司挖来的
，也是面试的人里资历最浅的一个。面试的职位直接受他领导。
但是不幸的是，我和这个老印聊的时候感觉非常差。老印没有问和工作极其相关的我的
技能方面的任何一个问题。他问的问题，是一个相关专业的基础题，但我因为比较紧张
，大脑纯粹僵死在那里的感觉，加上这个老印口音极重，基本上都没有回答上来。当然
，客观的地说，这几个题也不算难，只要不紧张的话，稍微用逻辑想想，也能解决。但
同时一般面试我这个方向的几乎都不会问那些题目的。完了，老印说，“我要找一个基
