北京大学工学院从高起点出发，立足于尖端科技、交叉学科，着眼于未来工程科学和新
技术的发展方向，面向国家迫切需要及关系国家中长远经济发展的科学与技术研发。因
此，北大工学院的发展不片面追求规模，而是以培育核心创造能力为中心，有所为、有
所不为，优中求精。同时，学院采用与国际接轨的院长负责制，实行“教授治学，民主
治院”。
学院重建以来，在学科发展、队伍建设、科学研究、人才培养、合作与发展等方面取得
了突出成绩。学院现设有6个系和近20个研究机构，它们中多数已经达到国内一流水平
，有的已经进入世界先进学科的行列。
学院教师实行国际通行的聘任制度(Tenure-Track) ，面向全世界公开招聘优秀人才。
目前学院有正式教师120人，其中有院士10名，千人计划、长江学者、国家杰出青年基
金获得者等50余人，并有国家自然科学基金 “创新群体”3支，教育部“创新群体”2
支。工学院是北京大学“国家千人计划”获得者人数最多的学院，也是北京大学高端人
