谢的工作在好几个领域都是开创性的。WIKIPEDIA上对谢的介绍提到＂Xie is
considered a founding father of single-molecule enzymology. He has also made
major contributions to biomedical imaging by developing CARS microscopy.＂
今年又刚刚在Nature Methods上灌了一篇测序新方法。
谢在学术界，甚至不同学科领域的认知度都蛮高的。如果能先搞个Wolf, Lasker或
National Medal of Science，就更有戏了。

生化？ Too many people in the pool unless you are specialized in areas like
enzymology. There may not be a lot opportunities in those special areas,
but you will be very competitive if there is an opening. However, if you
are very strong, there are always openings in this area since it is more
technical driven.
遗传？ Is it still hot? Maybe not. However, specialized in personalized
medicine may have a good future.

发帖数: 340 | 21 其实也还有一年，老板已经在committee meeting松口明年春天答辩了。phd期间主要做enzymology，就是酶催化／动力学什么的。二三流的学校，生物排名也一般。在这个实验室不到3年，现在有4篇一作（2篇 jbc，2篇 3.5分方法类期刊），1篇酱油（10分），一篇2分的共同一作（本科时）。
实验室就我一个研究生，每天过得很抑郁。。。老板还是AP，每天标准朝九晚五，从不bench work，每天就躲在自己的办公室写东西看paper。我的四篇一作都是自己独立完成，只有我第一作者，然后老板通讯。。。。完全没有和别的组合作和交流。
因为老板没funding，我也从来没有参加过会议。。。所以现在基本是井底之蛙，什么牛人也不认识，对自己的研究方向有点失去信心，加上实验室环境很抑郁，研究热情也慢慢消退了。

对现在研究方向也不太赶兴趣的学生，找postdoc应该注意什么？我必然想找牛advisor

1. 找个地方作post-doc. 申请的时候也别太挑. 现在的形式是老板挑博后. 很多条件
和你类似的连博后的位置都找不到. 更别提工业界了. 搞生物的, 切忌好高骛远.
2. 转行.

区附近工作（朋友在湾区工作机会多，暂时未毕业，所以打算我先过去）。方向是
molecular biology and biochemistry，主要做蛋白相关的课题，包括构建，表达，纯
化，酶活力检测，质谱分析等，免疫的技术都有过相关经验。希望找protein science,

欧洲水博第四年,做定向进化的,开始考虑工作的事情了.
monster上看了一下,发现enzyme engineering/enzymology的位置并不多,而且大多是
non-phd的职位.而且PhD的位置所要求的技能似乎比较多.
如果去不了好的实验室,就准备回国转行了.
另外请教一下以下的研究方向:
1. 酶工程,特别是定向进化. FHA这两年似乎没有什么重大突破.当然人还是很牛的,前
两年她的组有个中国大哥三篇Nature子刊最后找到一个业界位置,这样的成功几乎不可
复制.
2. 抗体工程(binder protein).老板的意思是技术很成熟了,不值得跳进去.不是太清楚
这个领域.
3. 代谢工程.看着Keasling的工作很漂亮.觉得很多时候是信息的整合,园创新的东西不
多,但是毕竟有产品做出来.貌似现在还是猎奇的状态, |
