本人本科和在中国的硕士是应用数学专业（微分方程数值解），跟老师做过一些
projects。可那都是5年前和3年前的事情了。老师们英语都好，但毕竟人走茶凉，不知
道愿不愿意给我做reference.
来美国以后转到纯数学专业（其实一直想学这个）。我学得不错，老师对我也很器重，
但是因为种种原因没有念完Ph.d，拿了Master就毕业了。走的时候信誓旦旦地跟老师们
说，不论到哪里都不会放弃数学。但现在还是决定先工作，能养活自己、养活（未来的
）孩子、孝敬父母。如果让纯数的老师来做reference，他们一定会觉得我这人咋说话
这么没谱。也许我多虑了——学数学的能人辈出，多我不多少我不少，只是担心老师因
为我这个没谱，不愿意给我做reference。多说一句，不怕挨砖，我没有放弃做研究的
想法，但我的路注定不是直的。
其他的选择就是同学，他们应该很愿意为我做reference。唯一的担心是不知道有没有
说服力。而且邀请邮件中明确说reference要是以前的supervisors，而且要3个！

发帖数: 111 | 9 我也想给人家发考题，可要是我这个小硕士能当professor，让那些5，6，7年念完博士
，2，3，4年熬完博士后的同志们情何以堪呀。纯数学的成熟期挺长，念出来的同志都
很值得敬佩。
我大概也可以找Teaching School的教职，可是那时能人蓄势待发的地方。我这样的就
是纯纯粹粹教书匠了。我不厌恶教书，但是无论如何不想拿教书当终身职业。而且工资
也低。
不是我替众多学纯数的同学谦虚，也许学纯数的人的头脑、训练、毅力都上乘，但是CS
，EE，ECE等专业出身的人在很多方面还是有不争的优势。我也想过申请Google，
Microsoft等，但是以我现在的计算机水平基本是浪费大家的时间，何苦呢。
但是Epic不会是我的最后一站滴（现在说太早了，人家说不定还不鸟我呢，嘿嘿~~~）
。以后的路慢慢走吧。 |

But the up-est management was confused; they started believing in fantasies/
lies they created (e.g. why is staying in middle of no where is a good
choice. why hiring people with no experience is good choice) |

If they say, we want to keep it cheap. that's fine with me.
But, no. They say "it's better this way".
Who are they kidding?
They expect people with no software development experience to be trained for
3 months and to have no DOA in the future?
I saw a lot of people struggling over trivial problems there. Instead of
giving them more time to develop, Epic simply give them the boot.

这个test听说programming的题不是非常难
但是我有朋友全做完了，也没拿到on-site，他最后去MS了，所以代码应该不会有逻辑
上的错误

很偏Software
那些小本和你就是一起吃个饭啥的，他们的position也不一样，他们那个project
manager is implementation, very different from this
SW pays much more than all other roles and is much more picky. |

在WI的一家医疗公司，这两年貌似大力招人（HR说的），公司业绩好像也不错，无论你
是什么专业的都可以投，公司给办H1B和绿卡，但是好像是EB3。公司好像基本条件是
GPA 3.5，如果不到就别浪费时间投了。
说实话，背景基本跟我不match，recruiter发邮件来推荐的，就去试试了。先电面（随
便问问，很轻松），再programming test（比较简单），再onsite（一堆问题，详情请
翻阅本版,careercup, glassdoor），onsite最后做了个类似GRE TEST的玩意，单词都
忘了。。。可能因为这个最后也没拿到。
MathWorks::Application support engineer
MATLAB的公司，在boston，貌似比较看重名校，onsite时不管是面试的还是应聘的基本
