去年１１月时写一个proposal，州里的一个support fund. 正好很忙，本来不想写，想
跟着另一个faculty混一个co-PI. 在deadline 还有不到２星期的时候，那个faculty
突然告诉我他不想写了。Research service 跟我说noi 已经submit 了，写一个吧，也
算他们的业绩（teaching school, 也没什么人写proposal, 有一个是一个）。
好吧，写就写吧。没什么时间了，写得也不怎么样。唯一就是找到一个industry
partner,很小的一个engineering firm。model 分析一下他们的一个design,
feasibility study. 很粗糙的一个proposal, 一个星期混出来，肯定没有我很多其他
的写的认真。
结果,出呼我意料，１４０K fully funded. 怎么可能，以前写得好得多的都没有中。过
了两个星期，那个公司的老板告诉我收到通知他的这个design 从一个federal agency

you always need to justify your mechanism of action. SBIR/STTR is shorter
projects aim for specific stage of a translatable technology. If you write
SBIR/STTR like an R01, it won't be funded. You really don't need to justify
your mechanism of action but show feasibility i.e. it works in vivo etc. |

exempt from overtime rules from $23,660 to $47,476. This minimum is set to
begin December 1, 2016. This affects us mainly with regard to postdoc

这里发言，How? 能给出个切实可行的方案吗？总不能一出事就赖版主监管不力，他也
得有这个本事才行。
看得出, faculty们还是挺理想主义的，挺“洁癖”。你自己组里学生不合你意，你有
能力开了他；学校或者系主任你不喜欢，你可以跳槽。但是一个谁都可以上，谁都可以
匿名上的公共论坛，你们还真没有这个能力按照自己的理想来管，不光你们，版主都没
有。不信请你们自己来做版主试试，你能干的就是定下班规，然后谁违反了，就按照规
定办。而目前在我来看，版主已经完全按照这条来执行了。如你们所说的，一经发现是
某个ID就立刻封掉的话，你们这个版主两天就给老邢撤职。
这里也有私人俱乐部，可以严控谁来谁不来，可能你们自己也加入了，但是估计也能体
会到，俱乐部虽然有它的好处，但很多方面就是比不上公共论坛，否则你们也不会来了
，是不是？可能楼上有些ID是事业一帆风顺过来的，不像我这种loser，我自己对大环
境有多大能力control, 对别人，甚至对自己命运能有多大掌控力，我是从来都不敢高

胞都有类似的问题，在这里总结一下（也希望对隔壁贴有帮助）。
几乎可以说，只要是问到你研究课题的问题，无论怎么个问法，在回答的时候都不要一
上来就抠方法和细节。甚至具体目标都不行。Back up, back up, back up！要连退好
几步，同时站到更高的境界上去回答。我还是举个具体例子吧。比如同胞们大部分的回
答是这样的：
“我的研究课题是要给买提开发一项新功能。这个功能的用处是吸引大家更频繁的说话
，增加流量。具体实现方法是A领域中的XX算法和B领域中的XX优化法。。。”
错，错，错！为什么错，你看看我怎么讲，你就知道了：
自从微信普及以来，买提的生意受到极大冲击（先阐述问题严重性和广泛性）。要知道
，买提是否兴旺，关系到中国文化在海外的流传（重大意义）。为了提高流量，老邢想
到的办法就是去LF雇了一堆JQR，试图用转贴灌水等方式活跃气氛，效果差强人意（这
里先讲一下别人的方法，当然是不好的结果）。而我要做的，是从另一个角度来考虑，

to $100, there's just too much hot money chasing it. I dont buy the story
that dow or spx will retest march low, however a moderate correction is
feasible (10-15%). If you are actively trading, you need pay attention to
those retracement. But in long term perspective $60-70 oil price sounds
pretty reasonable.

branch and bound，或者叫分支定界法，就是一种prune的方法。
suppose i already have a feasible solution for a maximization problem, say
the value is A, then obviously OPT >= A. then for those branches that has
relaxed opt, for example, relax some integer var to real variable, has opt
value < A, it definitely should be pruned. |

same school's phd program (at Master's degree's last semester), providing he
can pass the qualification, but he failed.
anyway, he does not want to continue to study in his current PhD program,
and want to find a finance/quant/IB-related job in NYC.
So I gave him advice he can be attached to some staffing company, and then
keep on looking. But I am not sure if it is feasible.
