Most of the answers you're getting here are correct as far as they go. The
vast majority of gun crimes as you define them are committed with guns that
are illegally possessed.
For more specific statistics, you can find the FBI Uniform Crime Reports
here:

but it may be a lot of work to mine the data you want out of them. The
