肥力还是很足的，菜长得很好

也是黑不拉几的东西
既然人说了Organic Fertilizer,我也就暂且信了
好处是省的动脑子去琢磨怎么配土和肥
人都帮你mix的很不错
坏处是比较贵，几个小raised bed, 光土就花了我100来块钱

1. “ 您用饮用水的NO3标准来衡量蔬菜中的含量”。
我不是这个意思。我举饮用水的例子是想让大家有个概念，我的原话是“很多同学对这
个浓度可能没有概念，那我就举两个例子，帮助同学们认识这是多高的浓度。”饮用水
就是其中的一个例子。
2. “饮用水中是10ppm NO3-N，相当于45 ppm NO3”。
这点我也提到了。我的原话是“美国环保总署（EPA）规定自来水中的NO3含量不得高于
45 ppm（相当于10 ppm 的NO3-N）。”
3. “但是在蔬菜中的标准是3000 ppm （欧盟），美国似乎还没出台”。
同意后半句，我也没有看到过美国的标准。EU对农作物规定的硝酸根含量标准是3000-
7000 ppm,不同作物和不同季节，标准不一样。
4. “当然，吃蔬菜前好好洗干净fertilizer的残留还是很必要的”。
同意，特别是organic fertilizer， e.g., manure。

you fertilize bermuda with one lb of Nitrogen per 1000 sqft every 2-4 weeks
during the summer, it will grow faster than your dog can mess with, and will

final judge and decision maker.
My recommendation would be this:
1. Do it yourself.
2. Renovate both the front and back yards in the fall, not now.
3. Do a soil test.
4. Do soil drainage and compaction tests.
5. Amend the soil from soil test results between now and the fall. It might
be laughable to do so before planting in the fall, but eventually you'll
realize that you have the final laugh.

上周去看到人家种的彩色的菜花啥的怎么那么大，长的真好。当时没买因为看到的时候
已经买了不少菜了，所以这个星期念念不忘的去买了一朵紫色的菜花，一朵黄色的，还
有一朵绿色的。都有我脑袋那么大，而且卖的巨贵啊，5块钱一颗。
我还问人家怎么能把菜种这么大呢，他说他用的fish fertilizer，一周上3次肥，我回
来还上网查啥是fish fertilizer。
结果，做了吃发现比我自己种的味道差远了。水泡泡的，不像我自己种的那么nutty。
这就是长太大的trade off，所以还是不要被表象迷惑了。
人家还跟我说如果菜长一点点大的话没人愿意买的。这人真是短见的动物，大的不好吃
，但是好看，我居然就图好看然就买了这么多菜花回来 |

won't hurt, it fertilizes your grass ! Bluegrass can creep into it.

本来clover只有一小片，可能因为mower spread的问题，现在快要take over the
whole lawn了。
邻居春天开始的时候也差不多，上个月突然好起来了。我问她怎么搞的，是不是请了
professional，她说就是weed and fertilizer。
其实我们开春也洒过seed，2周后fertilizer with weed control，但是感觉我们的枯
草太多了，用rake完全弄不动，还是厚厚一层在下边，每每想到“野火烧不尽，春分吹
又生”，就有一把少了这些枯草的冲动。
想请教草坪大拿2点：
1. 如何去除枯草（影响好草，但是阻止不了杂草）。
2. 如何去杂草？
我不介意使用一些chemical的东西。先有效再说，以后状况好了，才有空间考虑环保的
alternative。

【杀杂草初级篇】
1. 杀螃蟹草：
螃蟹草最难杀，对付的有效办法是等它冬天死掉，来年在forsythia(跟迎春花很像，东
边这里看到的迎春花实际上多半都是这种forsythia)开花之前撒带pre-emergent的肥，
这种：

宽叶草包括很多种叶子宽的杂草，最普遍的是蒲公英和clover.以目前的技术，杀宽叶

懒了，我不想用人家的音乐，Youtube可能会认为你倾权，自己也想提高编曲能力，不
过这可真不容易，音乐也比较粗糙，但毕竟是自己的原创，还在学习中。
视频里有几十张菊花的照片，分别为2010年，2015年和今年的2016年. Mums可能是最便
宜的菊花了，刚搬到这儿就有了白色和金黄色两棵，自己又去买了三棵其他颜色，头两
年开得不错，后来自己买的那三棵先没了，也不知什么原因。可能是太拥挤，抢不过本
来的两棵，原本两棵也缩小了，前些年旁边都没种东西，有点空荡荡的，所以今年把番
茄种在了旁边，没想到番茄发了疯似的长，占了菊花的地盘，今年的菊花开得最差了，
于是才想起上网查原因，原来我都没好好管理菊花，视频后面列了自己总结的tip，也
解答了我今年菊花开得不好的困惑。

2010年十月白菊花越长越大，一大圈。
去年十月的金黄菊花开得多好。

具体施用的时间以土壤温度为准，一般当土壤温度达到50-55华氏度就开撒。没法测土
壤的另一个参照物是看Forsythia花开（跟迎春花长得一样），刚开的时候就是该撒药
的时候。略早一周也可以。实在撒晚了也不是很大问题，漏长出来的螃蟹草可以用杀草
剂对付。
具体的pre emergent有几种：
1, scotts家的Scotts 15,000-sq ft Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer
Lawn Fertilizer (30-0-4)

fescue比较细嫩，用药量要酌减。
