不知道为什么金融数学的计算里面不怎么引入finite element method.
现在解大部分物理方程已经不用空间上的有限差分了,因为误差原因,
离散时间用显式表达微分项的话,空间离散的程度必须非常高,才能让误差可以接受;
基本上涉及到物理量的扩散和对流的方程都不会再用有限差分了;
目前来说,解每个时间定点上的Stokes问题的话,
还是用有限元比较多(stokes需要用到mixed finite element)或者有限体积(finite
volume),一是算的快,二是误差小,而且符合微分几何里面的真解的一些代数性质,
比如梯度场对应点,散度对应边,正好和离散空间在的基函数配起来;
另外Navier-Stokes最关键的问题还在于解决那个速度和速度的梯度做内积的非线性项,
很多离散问题都避开那个,
也就是避开了速度的空间变化对于速度的时间变化的影响
(即连续介质方程中都要涉及到的对流项),其实是很取巧的;
有限差分(finite difference)和有限元(finite element)区别还是很大的,在一
维你可以认为他们是相同,但在2维以上完全不同,有限差分是把空间离散... 阅读全帖

Finite element is not as easy to apply as finite difference. It remains
unpopular in the US, I believe only a few French in this world still
actively researching on FE.
A good FE method requires a good meshing technique, which appears way harder
than building a grid for FD. It is not uncommun to hear that in some
industries like car making , there is a job called "mesher", for those who
try to find best possible mesh everyday...

做随即控制问题做到一个高维的两次parabolic type PDE,想要用有限差分做一个
数值解试试。现在两次导数前面的系数有state variable, 符号不定,导致
一般做法下得到的finite difference scheme没有单调性。不知道这种
情况是不是还有希望,请教熟悉的同学推荐一些书或者论文。

It is very tricky for Chebyshev collocation, because the weight function.
You can check David Gottlieb's work. He did some work about 20 years ago.

It surely has the issue of stability, no matter it is onestep or multistep.
For finite difference, if the problem is periodic, you can use Von Neumann
stability analysis; if the problem is IBVP, things become much more
complicated, but we still have general ways to check the stability of the
boundary conditions (which is essentially due to the fact

It will be very beneficial to read some book.
For time dependent problem, the definition of stability
should be the same for whatever schemes. It basically means
the energy is bounded.
Assume the final time is T, the time step dt = T/N.
Let u_n be numerical solu at t=t_n. For finite difference/element,
u_n is mostly piecewise polynomials, not necessary linear.
For spectral methods, u_n will be a global polynomial.
Just like for u, we can define some norm(energy) for u_n. Then

公司在New jersey.
会不会给relocation不清楚,但是因为不是招fresh,所以应该会有relocation,给办
h1b。

技能主要就是要求就是用NX I-DEAS/NASTRAN 和 LS-DYNA,做有限元分析。非线性的和
线性的都要。你如果以前做过汽车的气囊的分析的,就很理想。
他网上写的要5-8年工作经验,其实你如果有大于3年的工业经验就可以投了。小于3年
工作经验的就很抱歉了,你可以投,但是希望不大。
请直接按monster上面的链接去投。虽然是10月20号就放出来的位子,但是我确定现在
还没找到理想的人。

本人初学用有限元方法来模拟RF/EM问题。 现考虑平面波在无限大air-glass 界面的反
射/折射 (y=0 为界面),平面波在上半平面(air)入射到界面。 我选择矩形计算窗
口:左,右 为周期性边界,上下用PML . 用COMSOL的RF In-plane TE model (
scattered field formulation), 模拟结果总是不对。 原因是 total e-field 在y=0
界面不连续。琢磨多时也不得要领。请经验的大虾指点一下, 非常感谢!

各位板上的学长学姐,小弟是3+2项目的,现在是大四学生,但已经在普渡大学读机械
系的研究生课程.
我下周就要开始选下学期的课了,但是由于我还不是正是的研究生,没有导师指导选
课,现在比较迷茫.
本人想读固体力学方向,昨天问了一位教我ME4800 finite element analysis的教
授,他向我推荐先修一门弹性力学(CE 59500 - Finite Elements In Elasticity 或者
AAE 55300 - Elasticity In Aerospace Engineering) 然后修读 ME 55900 -
Micromechanics Of Materials 和 ME 61200 - Continuum Mechanics.
大家觉得如何?本人打算硕士毕业出来找工作,想多读些实用的课程。
普渡non-theis硕士的修读计划是读10门硕士课程即可,数学课(MA)至少读一门
,但是我也完全没思路,不知道选那些有用.一直想找本院的师兄师姐问问,无奈没有找
到读固体陆雪的,所以向板上求助.
