Now my research project is focused on sheet metal bending.
In the definition of “Fixed-End Entity Bending” in API documents, the part
after bending can be divided into three portions:
Fixed Portion, Transformed Portion and Bent Portion. In my paper I want to
cite the three concepts but I cannot find them by Goolge or in journal
papers of scientific databases.
Can anyone tell me where the resource of the three concepts is?

人吃的量.X呢,我们感兴趣的是红烧肉的色泽,肥瘦比例之类的.
决定吃多少,还有个重要的参数就是各人的食量.比如版主大人,根据ID和雅号,那一定吃
的比较多.可是呢,这个不能当作一个fixed effect.尤其是观察量比较少的时候.操作上
来说,会吹大估计值的方差.哲学上说,我们不应该给板上好几百口子每人一个fixed
effect, 而应该把它当作从一个population里的抽样.所以就叫random effect了.
有的人,比如我老板,对random effect非常的不鸟,认为那是缩小方差的一个小手段. |

如果你专门选择晴天和雨天来做，那么这个天气就是Fixed。
如果你不专门挑选晴雨，碰到什么就是什么，那么这个天气就是Random |

are a lot of levels and we randomly selecet three, it will be random effect.
I have another question. Even we randomly select three from a population,
with only three samples, how we are going to estimate variance of the random
effect?

最近在看一些panel regression的东西，一个很简单的东西始终没有弄明白
y_it = beta * x_it + v_i + error
书上说如果v_i和x correlation是0的话，那么这个model就是fixed effect model
但是这里v_i在时间上是一个常数，其variance是0，它和任何时间序列的correlation
都是undefined的。
我哪里理解错了？

Beta are estimated fixed effects.
mu are estimated random effects.
You may notice the difference between beta and mu:
beta's are unknown constants to be estimated. this is the fixed effect.
mu is assumed to follow a distribution. This is the random effect. |

predictor表现特别;而不是因为不同的coefficient设定才把一个predictor变成了
random effect
比如说楼主决定用income作predictor,如果一个intercept,一个slope就可以算出不错
的prediction,那么fixed effect model就搞定。需要做random effect model最简单（
但不是最常见）的情况:不同income有不同的intercepts（假定slope还都一样）。比如
0-50k intercept 1000, 50k-100k intercept 1, 100k+ intercept 10。这样的
relationship不是linear,linear model可以做但predicition不好。而用smoother也许
能提高prediction但不make sense。这时用random effect model效果最好。

beta是parameter，不是任何factor/effect。
random effect指的是某个X。
natural grouping确实是核心概念之一，还有另外一点就是我们并不在乎random
effect的意义，我们并不interpret它。
fixed model跟random model实际上就是variance-covariance structure不同。
其实只要看formula就能明白的。fixed effect在formula里面不是随机的，而random
effect在formula里面是random的，服从某个分布的，通常这个分布是normal（0，
sigma）。 |

听过太多expandable不能正常打开的故事了。所以我从来不用。fixed箭头，我推荐用
用一体的，穿透力更强。我用NAP Hellrazor，65lb，30码以内除非射到腿骨上，其他
部位都可以对穿。有次射到鹿头顶上，也射穿了。
另外，我也觉得楼主还需要多花些精力在射箭技术上。从你这两张图看，如果你是认真
射的，散布太大了。30码，不动窝，三箭应该挤在一起比较正常。 |

It is worthy only if the damage costs >$5000 to fix. Because in the insurance record it will not show exactly how much is the damage, will only say damage is >$750. So $20000 damage and $800 damage doesn't show any difference in your record. |
