I just register this course.
See if anybody will go for it and we may share hotel/campsite.
I heard it from a friend in east coast who took it a few years ago who
improved his bottom time from ~1 minutes to 2.5 minutes with the help of
this course.
Almost 100% of the online reviews suggest it a productive course. In my mind

发帖数: 1327 | 3 similar to scuba, by pinching the nose and blowing at early stage and often.
some ppl, like me, do not need to pinch and blow in most cases to clear the ear. I use a way similar to swallowing to open it up as frequently as I need.
btw, you need to equalize the ear and mask with your single breath of air.
a low volumn mask is prefered for freediving due to this reason. |

Kirk, Mandy and their team are very-very experienced with this sport and
very nice people. They are on top of this game and their knowledges help
every freedivers(from beginners to WR divers) to dive deeper, longer and
safer.
Strongly recommend to you SoCal guys who was doing freediving/ spearfishing.
Last time, I thought the Monterey course could be canceled due to not

The only "text book" I read is this article:

I did want to achieve that "perfectly vertical descent", but I know most
time I kept kicking water and entered at a low angle.. :P.. Good thing is I
still have something to practice in that small swimming pool..
I am still trying to find some videos on youtube showing those entry
technics, do you have any to recommend?
What text book did you use in the class?

Jia: Then you have a good start point. With proper breath method/instruction
, I think 4 minutes is doable for average ppl. Please do not do it by
yourself in pool though. Dry training is okay but make sure you sit in a
coach or lie on bed:)
Jia: You mean scuba? I only had one scuba dive after i got certified. Too
much gears for me. I like the simplicity of freediving.
Anyway, you can see the program on their website. if it is the course for
you, you can tell right away. At least it is true for |

我感觉现在的初级课太低了（其实南加也没有，查到的都在FL什么的）；中级又太高了
。。似乎都是挺experienced freediver 去参加。。我这两天在游泳池练，也就是最多
只能到7’，记录是32s。。：P
不知道有啥办法能让我练到在20－30’比较comfortable先。。

into ab diving. yet it is hard to be comprehensive since it is a big topic,
right?
i couldn't find a very good entry with bi-fin yet on youtube yet. There is
one if you search Rachel and Mandy freedive to 75ft. The girl did an okay
entry(maybe still better than me:). I will let you know when I see a better
video on youtube.

gear includes long blade fins, low volume mask, boots and wetsuit.. and hood
? that's about it? Was gonna buy a wetsuit for scuba, didn't know
freediving wetsuit's diff. I guess I can get by with scuba wetsuit, but got
turned off by the snobby sales from the dive shop. Total invest of at
least $600, for sth. I am not too sure if I'll like. NorCal, too cold.

in Malibu. I may have another dive on 10/18 Sunday in the same area or
Santa Barbara area depending on the condition and time.
dter is a SCUBA diver and I am a freediver. Both of us are novice divers.

It gets neutral buoyancy at 15 ft or deeper. |

diver should maintain positive buoyancy to float up if something bad happens.
I got the weight from local dive shop. A set with new weights should be

they do offer class in a few different south cal locations as well(typically once a year).
I 100% recommend PFI's courses to ppl who want to do freediving or you are
freediving now. It is going to save you so much time and trouble since the
instructors are truly world class(both performance and teaching experience);
they know what they are doing and they know how to help you know what you
are doing and do it better. If you play basketball, it's like let michael j |

近（太平洋旋转海豚）。其他地方有红海的瓶鼻海豚，日本附近也有瓶鼻海豚。。。不
过我就不太了解了。。。单纯看海豚的话，按照肥猫说的，很多玩水的地方都常见海豚。
我强烈推荐巴哈马的Bimini岛。我觉得是最好的，没有之一。10年去了之后一直想写游
记攻略之类的，懒得很就没写……不过知道的人好像不多，争取写一下，希望也有别人
感兴趣……
我跟的一个私人的公司。六天五夜，住在船上。我去的那一周风很大，条件below
average。但还是每天都有互动。一般来说在海上发现海豚之后，船长会观察它们的行
动，确定它们处于乐于嬉戏的状态后才会让游客下水。一般来说，这个时候海豚们会主
动到你身边。如果你是一个好的freediver, 海豚会在你下潜是来到你身边绕着你游。
我试过，真的是这样子，就是我的水平还不够，在水下不够舒展放松。
花费的话，这种一周左右包吃住的大概要1500，再加往返机票（往返Florida，以及从
FL往返Bimini）一般要上两千。另外飞入Bahama是要签证的，至少我当时是F1返美签证

找不到合适的，去专业潜水店试专业mask
比如我用的Cressi Minima，就特别小
当然这不是为了脸小设计的，但是脸小的，可能适合用freediving的mask
因为scuba的mask一整片玻璃，体积很大
freediving的mask就比较接近游泳goggle，是分成两个眼镜的。 |

子。这种应该是唯一能在冷水长时间freediving的style。优点很多，网站应该都说了
。关键是内层
是橡胶，没有fabric(open cell close cell这两个词很多商家都在用，我都搞不清楚
哪个是哪个
了)。外层有nylon，曾强耐久过。我听说过有人找欧洲网店好像买到200左右不过我没
找到。anyway
我的态度是如果东西好，能玩得舒服点，贵一点值得。at the end of the day what

is how many hours you will be in it.
你是说semi-dry?这个也挺保暖，不过相对这个有1个缺点，不能尿尿，你要在水里待三
四个小时，下
去前肯定要先猛喝水，减少脱水。dry suit要$2000左右？但是dry suit不能

freediving international建议调的，对于recreational freediving within 30ft可能

it is around a few injure per 1000 skier days, and much much less incident
is fatal.
i can say similar number of ppl die from freediving as skiing and
snowboarding
in the state of california each year(maybe from 5-15). but freedivers are
much
less than skiers and riders, probably in the order of 10 times or 100 times.

speargun, freedive computer, flashlight, snorkel and mask.
There was a shark advisory posted on the entrance of the dive site, which
was not a big concern to me since I know there is a lot to worry about than
shark when diving.
4 fish, including a 15lb 8oz male california sheephead as a highlight. I saw
it on the last couple of dives and made a good shoot behind the gill plate
in close distance.

have some problems with it as well.
A few tips:
1. Equalize as often as you can before feeling the pressure.
2. When you feel pressure/pain, stop and work it out before going deeper to
avoid eardrum rupture.

当时我们几个滑雪的朋友到了夏天没事情做想到学潜水。因为身边没有认识在潜水的人
，刚开始凑装备的时候一致认为潜水是一项最花钱的运动，尤其是还没有开始玩就得先
买一大堆东西。这一堆东西只是基本配备，贵的还在后面呢。
我们的教练是一个西安人，Master instructor。经验丰富(certified more than 1000
students)，人非常好，学生满意度很高。我原来以为他吃这口饭的，后来发现他也是
engineer，业余时间玩潜水。后来我去free diving前还找他上了次freediving的课。

I think free diving has advantage over SCUBA when spearfishing.(quite,longer
time for search and hunt).
BTW, If I live in SoCal, I will go after California spiny lobster:)
Most ppl catch them with SCUBA but some use freediving as well. |

but you need long fin if you are using scuba fin.
2. Proper weighting is very importent for both safety and performance.
3. I got 58ft on my last day(consider failing the intermediate class, which
requires 66ft).
My problem is equalization. I normally do not have this problem during my
working depth like 20-30ft. However, it hit me all sudden in Monterey this
time 3 days in a row... I feel it has something to do with my h |
