whether you get the offer. Always ask, but never threaten. Look at this from
a long term perspective. $5k difference is nothing. Some schools had
furloughs a few years ago. If you do well in your career, $5k is two days of

我家的割草砍树之类，都是亲力亲为，所以不认识割草砍树的非法老墨，但因为跟一家
中餐馆的老板很熟，经常去那里吃饭，连带认识了几个非法移民老墨。
都是偷渡过来的，据说很容易，很便宜，$300美元就搞定，所以他们经常嘲笑大陆来的
偷渡客，说大陆偷渡客要花六七万美元才能来美国，来了还不敢中途回家探亲，不像他
们老墨，几百美元就偷渡过来了，农忙的时候，或者家里有啥事的时候，他们还能回家
探亲，探完再花几百美元就又到美国来了。

I watched some interview. The Treasury will not stop paying the bonds interest, instead it will furlough some government workers and stop paying government contractors, like what California did several years ago.

说错了，不是底牌是底线，共和党的底线就是不会让debt default。民主党的底线是
obamacare不容谈判的（也就是government reopen是不容谈判的，因为government
shutdown的原因obamacare），如果obamacare没有被搞掉共和党就输了这一局。下面
debt ceiling的谈判本来就是另算的，和obamacare无关了，最后就是像以前一样kick

我是H1B,在一家公司工作了一年多。
最近公司以资金紧张为由让大概70-80%的员工放无薪假期(furlough)，为期一周，不灵
的话就再延。
因为我的工资是H1B最低工资，所以任何无薪假期都是不合法的。所以我跟HR讨论说用
我的PTO（足够一星期的）。中间扯皮的事情很多，HR说话反复无常前后矛盾而且还可
能撒了很多谎（无法求证，不知道到底是谁在撒谎）。HR好像很恐慌，以为事情很大；
公司老板似乎也不高兴。虽然我告诉她根据联邦法律，任何差错只要在3天之内纠正就
没有任何关系的。我要求她撤消给我无薪假期通知，让我用一个星期PTO；HR说要跟公
司老板商量。
结果两天之后我收到一封平信，是HR签名，说我的岗位被减掉了，我在公司的最后一天
是两天前（我跟她讨论细节的那天）。
（其实我早就知道一些职位要被减掉的，但都是要到9月初才减。）
现在的情况是：
1。我的东西在办公室，不让我拿。公司还是头一次以这种方式对待员工。之前好几次
让当天解职的同事也都有一个正常的程序。也没有任何关于401K的说明或解释。

indicate you want to get PAID. You kind of demand your company giving your
special treatment because you are H1B?....

平常说的员工因为自己的原因（生育，健康，家庭，考试等等）主动申请的无薪假期（
leave without pay)不在这个范围。

都发了同一个帖.如果有人有相似经验或者听说过类似问题万分感谢回帖.贴子有点长,

我现在的公司(大概三四千人)正在给我准备PERM的申请,但公司的政策是公司承担所有
费用但只能使用公司律师(不允许自己付费用也不许使用自己找的律师),结果是整个
Case从去年十月底开始准备,一直到今年五月才拿到合适的Prevailing Wage. 好歹PERM
recruitment结束,结果得知公司在这个地区有一例temporary furlough (从五月份开
始的,但那人六月份拿到FL的一份新工作当时就辞职了),HR和公司律师坚持认为在填
PERM9089表的时候要report as layoff within past 180 days,尽管我咨询另外一个华
人移民律师的结果并不一样(这个移民律师是我同事最好的朋友所以不存在他想拉活的
想法),但是他们可以在接下来的一个问题里 ("Were the laid off U.S. worker
