发帖数: 34 | 3 VW的TDI (Turbo-charged Direct Injection)一gallon油可以开到50迈以上。
就是说，一缸油可以开到700迈以上，通常的汽油车只能开到300-400迈。
这里的车是jetta，自重和accord/camry一样，不是那种自重很轻的车，
比较安全。
发动机低转速的时候，torque很大，在低速的时候性能很好。高速的时候
转速也不高，这样柴油机发力的时候不会象汽油机一样声嘶力竭。
柴油机没有distributor, spark plugs, 不需要tune-ups或valve adjustments(
因为TDI是lift valve，不需要调，普通的柴油机还是要的)。
要做的维护就是换油，换filter，换belts。
对柴油的误解通常有：
1)声音大
对于TDI不是一个问题，Direct Injection减少了发动机噪声。现在TDI的声音
不大，与gasser不同就是了。发动机罩更加减少了噪声。
2)速度慢
TDI的155 ft/lbs，TDI和相同排气量的gasser性能一样。如果你改装的话，
还可以增加30%的性能。所有的改装，如悬挂，进气， |

罚球不丢，UK就没法追了。
2. 当然，裁判很烂，前面对UK有利的判罚，也有不少。最明显的是那个Gasser突破分
球给Koenig投中3分，然后突破的Gasser被吹进攻犯规，然后Harrion进攻得分。一进一
出就是5分。所以，还真很难说，谁从裁判那里得利多一些。
3. 我们赢球的关键是60:56落后的情况下，防守上让对方3次有球不得分。其实，这里
是Cal犯错了。他光想走钟，觉得凭UK球员个人能力能在35妙用完之前找到投篮机会。
一次这样可以。但是一直这么搞，就是拿自己脑袋撞墙。我獾防这种半场进攻，绝对是
牛B的。如果他叫个暂停，组织个进攻，也许结果就会不同。

另外，华人是1943年废除排华法案以后才来到美国的，比犹太人晚了半个多世纪，因为
肤色跟白人差距较大，奋斗业更难。

Diesel is more dirty than gasoline (gasoline takes one more processing than
diesel), most people can pull off with one fuel filter on a gasser engine,
but I wouldn't want to risk that on a diesel. |

发帖数: 2308 | 12 我接送孩子和上下班纯local，30 miles里24个红绿灯，TDI 2012开出来大概是24 mpg.
毕竟是近5000磅的大车，走走停停很耗油。highway的话一般在29-31 mpg,如果车速不
太高（~60mph)又不堵的话就更高。汽油版的话根据clubtouareg上的报告纯local
average 15mpg左右，高速大概23mpg左右。
60k下来大概就能省1000多gallon的油。不算柴油跟premium gas的差价，本地冬天柴油
贵点夏天汽油贵点总体大概$4/gallon，这样60k下来油钱就能省下TDI版本的MSRP差价
了。resale差价就不提了。当然gasser的清仓折扣比较大，10k off的时候傻子才去买
TDI。 |

Touareg Exec V6 is what? 280hp/265lb.ft. Considering it's a much bigger
vehicle, it does not necessarily drive better than the little Golf, even it'

Among touareg's peers, BMW X5 diesel, Q7 TDI, Porche diesel, MB diesel,
Touareg drives and impresses the least. I am talking about the much better
drive train in the diesel version, let along the gasser.

人数是多少呢？

如果要用新加坡人口反驳，那么按照美国人口是新加坡60倍计算，新加坡中学也至少
该有3、4位诺奖得主了吧？ 其实如果一个国家教育体制好的话，人口根本不是问题，
新加坡人口5.3m，瑞典9.5m，瑞典培养出多少诺奖得主呢？30位！奥地利、瑞士这些多
新加坡几m的国家也都培养出20多位诺奖。挪威、丹麦和新加坡人口一样的，也培养出
10多位了。
星加坡就是个培养二流人才的地方，还有啥好说的。

你怕啥挨骂啊。。。ETH生物被RU 甩1－2条街完全没有悬念。。。。
我人在瑞士，还是比较了解情况的。
RU的阵容的强大是全美也少见的，诺奖／准诺奖一堆，院士一筐，剩下的基本一大半以
后能上院士。。。而且比例高啊，HMS，UCSF，stanford很多系里面也有相当多的水老
板，RU里面哪有水的啊。。。
瑞士最牛得老板平均能达到RU 平均水平的（Shai Shaham和Kapoor 算是平均水准？）
不会太多，就算超也是超一点的水平，达到在高一档比如Nussenzweig／Vosshal水平的
基本就没几个了。。。。
瑞士真正的顶尖牛人大概也就不到10个，免疫有几个，神经勉强有1－2个，分子细胞发
育有几个，也就这样了。。。

you described it, I don't even think you are keeping up with the frontiers
of chromosome biology. I'd suggest you to start with Dr. Wood's papers.
Papers from Drs. Susan Gasser, Wendy Bickermore, Andrew Belmont might as
well help you get on the right track and have a real sense of appreciation
to your own findings. Good luck. |

投哪里不重要，如果你真觉得这有可能是chromatin的另外一个结构，那下一步应该考
虑如何去证明，找个postdoc实验室可以帮助你的。Tim Richmond不错，可以联系看看。

1、cleveland clinic elective：虽然网站上没有写，但是你必须有内部人士推荐，否
则就不要费心思准备材料了，交了也白交。这个项目竞争很激烈，但是其实所有的
program都没有招满，只要有内部人士去跟Ms. Gasser打个招呼，你可以去任何科室，
但是如果没有，即使他们没招满，他们也不会考虑你。跟Step 1成绩无关，即使270+也
不会要你。
这里指的是student elective，不是observership。毕业生可以申请OB，关于OB的申请
详见他们的网站，具体我也不清楚。
2、Case Western：这个项目竞争很激烈，因为不用交学费，要提早申请，目前情况是
2014年12月以前已经排满了。
3、Mayo Clinic：一定要早申请~可以没有内部connection，有不少人都申请上了。 |
