我娃快要会爬的时候, 就开始担心他会自己爬到楼梯口. 这万一要是当时大人没有及时阻止, 娃摔下去可不好.

GATE专门班了，也就是美加华人社区俗称“天才班”的那种特殊教育。
8年前在多伦多，5年级的老大，在完全没有端倪的情况下，被老师荐考并中举，那时俺
们着实意外惊喜。今番在美国入读还不到半年的老二，也顺顺利利地经历了 这过程，
这结果，却来得没有半点意外。更准确地说，如果他考砸了，我们倒真会有些奇怪，虽
然失望是不至于的。老二从6岁开始，大大小小各种测试不知做了多 少，可谓身经百战

公室，说了以前的gifted情况，没有通过考试就直接进入GATE.后来才慢慢地知道这边
的GATE什么都不干，班上有差不多40%的学生都是GATE.没有特别的GATE班，孩子还在原
来班里，没有分组学习，老师也没有extra challenge work for GATE students.GATE
做的就是每个学期两次的的课后学习，每次一个小时。一学年就4个小时。 |

fluttering problem like the biners with normal gate. In other word, the
gate is less likely to to be knocked open under force. This makes it safer
for hanging rope.
So you should use the wire gate side for hanging rope. If possible, wire
gates on both ends would be a better choice.
The bent gate is easier for clipping but more prone to gate fluttering. |

手册上说：
The metal antenna ratio is defined as the ratio of the metal area to the
gate oxide area to which it is connected
at any level at which the gate has not yet been electrically connected to RX.
意思说如果cell里本身没有floating gate, 即使用了大面积(连接到gate)金属走线，
也不会报错，因为 antenna ratio 是定义在floating gate 存在的前提下的。
所以做cell的时候保证没有floating gate就不会有这些问题了。方法是把cell里的每个gate都用一个二极管反向接地。
是这样吗？ |

我因为是从芝加哥坐UA经伦敦转机再坐国航去北京，事先不会知道Gate Number, 也不
会有从伦敦到北京段的国航航班的登机牌，所以必须足够早的去国航对应的Gate
Number柜台去check-in打登机牌。想事先掌握个大概信息，提早去做柜台准备。但是上
次的经验他们国航的Gate Number公布的很晚，将近起飞前一个小时才post，结果当时
很赶，自己也没做gate number的记录。。。
所以想问问这里有经验的人的一般记忆。知道gate number不是一成不变的，但还是想

及稳当，不知道牛人们可以建议如何做baby gate?
我们买过很多不同种的baby gate,不过还没找到适合楼梯口的。我们的楼梯口一边是木
头柱子，另一边是装饰的仿wainscot paneling,因为不想在楼梯口的木柱和墙壁钻孔，
但是如果用pressure-mount的baby gate,需要平面（木头柱子中间一大段是圆柱，两端
是长方体）来受力。另一个想法是找一根木条，想办法固定在木柱上，做成一个平面，
看看pressure-mount的baby gate 上不上得了，不知道可行不。要买什么parts?

，会分到数学快班啥的，还是同一个学校。其实不是gate也有要再考试来分就进快班。
gate不过是可以不需考试进入。你想多了, gate现在几乎没有啥实际意义了。 |

manual里面的例子是straight gate和bent gate.
也不知道SAC从哪里搞的这批货。
虽然也是black diamond quicksilver quickpack quickdraw.
但是google出来的quicksilver quickdraw都是straight and bent gate.
根本没有straight and wire gate. |

宝宝要从国内回来了，想在楼梯口准备 security gate，但是现在宝宝可能干了，跑的
飞快，在家爬桌子，爬沙发，开冰箱什么的，担心 security gate 只能关小宝宝，对
他没用。但不准备一个gate又怕不安全，听听大家的建议，如果需要，那种对大宝宝比
较有用？

背景：南加州， 我们这里考GATE，各个学区不一样， 有的是考reading, math啥的。
我们这里是Pure IQ test,60道题,然后给你一个percentile，是按照今年考试的人数算
，比如今年整个学区二年级有2000个学生。
GATE Cluster的学生是理论上是98%以上的学生。这些学生每周short day那天， 会抽
出来上一个小时数学。 平常是混在班里上的。（实际上是95%-98%）
GATE Seminar的学生理论上是99.9%的学生。 单独抽一个班出来， 单独的老师，单独
的教程。但是会reserve一些spot给 low income, non-english proficiency 和别的
special student. 所以， 实际上是99.6-99.9%
这个考试一共就2次，二年级和五年级， 中间不能考。

经常有父母在私底下和虚拟空间自鸣得意于孩子“大大小小各种测试不知做了多少，可
谓身经百战”或参加各种培训班然后挤进GATE。这样所谓的“天赋”随着其他孩子们的
成长和后天的学习，就会蜕皮还原，失去优势，回到本初。以让孩子们快乐学习、快乐
创新、快乐生活为主导的米国，GATE的初衷是给原始的天赋一双自由的翅膀。因为他们
深知，这样天赋里，在适当的时候必会引领时代，带来变革与创新，给予人们更多的宽
容、爱、和快乐。背后的原因想必都在各自心中。
当然，技能上“GATE”而思想上平庸的孩子将来也许会成为一个平庸的医生和律师，也
许还能“光宗耀祖”，但指望这样的孩子成才，跟主流竞争，那基本是屡战屡败。
奥叔叔的意思是：你作为父母把子女培养成医生律师还是很了不起的，天才不天才的千
万莫刻意，少印在自己的头脑里，放一边轻松过日子。因为，街对面的房子里一定还有
你所不知道的天赋，不能理解的世界。 |

贵。那住不带gate 的 apt 是不是有点怕怕的。大家有什么经历,经验?多谢 |

你等于花钱给自己请个祖宗。有那钱和精力，自己也可以把house的家防搞起来。
你以为有铁门有监控又怎样？密码这东西只要有一个住户告诉了其他亲朋好友就很快会
传出去。你以为dhl fedex那些投递员的密码都哪来的？你以为他们不会把密码告诉别
人？
