先生是对年长有学问的人的尊称。照字面意思，就是你比我先出生，是我的前辈、长辈
。相对应的是后生、晚生。
过去学生尊称老师为先生，夫子。清朝末年以后，新式学堂里不兴叫夫子，只称先生。
不论男女，只要是老师都叫先生。我外公是30年代的时候上的小学、中学，一直到前些
年去世都是把老师叫作先生的。他们那一代人就没有老师这个说法。
40年代的儿歌，读书郎有一句“只怕先生骂我懒哪,没有学问无颜见爹娘”。这里先生
也是指老师
有人说什么日本人的。其实日语、韩语只是继续保持了中国古代的用法而已。先生最常
见的用法就是指老师。有时也用作不分性别的长辈的尊称。
中国人有一个恶俗，就是喜欢把表示老师的词随便用做对人的尊称。20年代30年代的时
候，最流行的尊称之一就是先生。那个时候这个词还是不分男女的。类似于70年代80年
代，北方人见人就称师傅。张师傅、李师傅既可以是男也可以是女。近20年，从娱乐圈
刮起一阵妖风，就是见人就称老师。什么李双江，什么苍井空都是老师。
那个年代，叫宋庆龄先生，就相当于今天叫苍井空老师。
