I have an A/C problem.
1) 户外 Fan works, but no 热风。户内 fanworks, but no cold 风
2) Compressor seems not working. It seems it works at the start but will not
work later on. when i just start the A/C，the thin line is slightly warm
and thick line is slightly cold . but after few min, no cold or warm feel
from both lines.
3) indoor 出风口 temp is around 79 while room temp is 82F.
4) check Capacitor by eyes, no obvious overburn or damage, 上段和四周没有鼓
起或烧的迹象。
5) the whole set was installed in 2006.

所谓一直开空调能省电。 我想这种说法的理论依据就是1 ton 的空调开2小时比2 ton
的空调开1小时要省电，而它们移走的热量是相同的。 所以说一定量的热量，分好几次
用1ton的空调移走，比一次性用2ton的空调移走要省电。
这个貌似有两个前提条件: 一是家里的空调有自我调节功能， 会在1ton和2ton之间切
换。 如果是很老式的没这种功能的，就提不上省电了。
第二个前提条件就是关空调的时间有一个范围，因为一直关着空调的话，房子内能容纳
的热量是有个最大值的， 温度到和室外一样就不会再升高了。 而期间一直开着空调的
话， 室外传送到室内的热量是没有限度的，会一直进来， 再一直被移出去。 所以如
果极端一点， 人一年不在家， 显然开着空调是要多费许多电的。 不过考虑到现实中
， 大家关心的应该是白天去上班后，家里没人是否还是要把空调一直开着。我想如果
晚上回家后，房间内的温度还没有上升到和室外一样的话， 可能是一直开着空调省电
。 如果房间保温能力很差， 关上空调后很快就和外面差不多热了的 |

the technician did come, but he just repiped p-trap and I insisted him lower
down the drain pipe a bit. Not sure if this will really do the trick. Need
to have a couple of days to observe.
and gezhi89, the backup pan is the extra pan underneath the whole unit to
catch overflow water from the drain pan. Probably the system is not the
popular in your area. |

gezhi89: I may not say clear enough in my previous post. The furnace was
not on but the fan (blow motor) does, which is responsible for air flow.

freon = R12，90年代中开始不用了。你无法legally买到freon。
只有像gezhi89说的到墨西哥买了偷带进来。
后面的用的是R-22，近几年开始也逐渐不用了。
最新的是R-410a，只有这个可以自己动手。个别也有用别的的。
chance is 你的空调不是R-410a的，否则现在就需要加的话
就是大问题了。
你的空调compressor哪里会有一个签，写着空调的specs，其中有
refrigerant type和capacity. 自己加要根据温度和capacity
计算压力，然后加到合适的压力。 |

I do not suggest open loop unless you happen to live next to a very deep and
large lake or something like that.
Closed verticle loop should be the best setup for most part of US.
Provide more detail I can maybe help you more.
But here is one thing I learned working for a large company in Seattle years
ago, you can make anything fly if you put a large enough engine on it (if

open loop我的想法是挖两个20多尺的井，这个应该不是很难，自己挖就行了。我觉得主要开销就是把condenser换成coaxial condenser，在弄个水泵抽井水。不知道5吨的coaxial condenser大致要多少钱？
下面这个网页里面有一个17.5 kw的coaxial condenser，$352。这个是不是大致相当于5 ton?

lowered to avoid steep drive way and we are having thunderstorms this week.
they already digged down the gararge part, but i am concerned if any
internal tension distribution change need to be taken into consideration,
say, re-design, which the builder won't be willing to do.
i am talking about slab on grade foundation.
now the floor should be about 2' above the gararge. |

What type of soil you have?
Did the builder tell you they will perform proper soil compaction prior to
pouring.

not sure, they never answer this question, so i just assume 4 to 6 inches
below the floor and 2' outside walls
no soil, only limestones, and they fill some gravel dirt.
they will compact the dirt, not sure how proper....
2-story
guess i am going to look for a resale and walk away when they complete to

hard to fix (jack up) if it begin to settle after some time.
But based on your answer it should be "ok" depending on your building plan
and how thick and what grade concrete they pour.
Here is two thingd you need to do:
1. make sure the rebar or mesh is the in the middle of the slab and properly
supported before they pour, or they need to use hook to pull them up to the
middle when pouring.
2. take several samples from each |
