Grizzly Flat trail 在 2号公路往北仅 5.4mi 处。上次在一个阴冷的微雨天里我们走
了前面一段上坡，结果发现了一片茂密的松林和草地，在这么个低纬度的地方十分难得
。这条道最终会下到 Big Tujunga，这个季节还有多少溪水就不好说了，但是树荫应该
比较多。如果能象上周我们在 Hondo Canyon 那样看到野花就更好了（btw上周去的
Hondo Canyon -> Saddle Peak 树林、野花和海景都很好，强烈推荐）。

愚鸠、孤鸽，是仅产于印度洋毛里求斯岛上一种不会飞的鸟。这种鸟在被人类发现后仅
仅176年的时间里，便由于人类的捕杀和人类活动的影响彻底绝灭，堪称是除恐龙之外
最著名的已灭绝动物之一。也是毛里求斯唯一被定为国鸟的已灭绝鸟类。
牛津大学自然史博物馆（Oxford University Museum of Natural History）中，曾经
陈列有渡渡鸟最后一个完整的填充标本（标本号OUM 11605），可惜在1755年由于腐烂

forest was killed not by the bear, but by a gunshot fired by a companion

black bear can be brown and grizzly can be dark brown as well.
few things to distinguish:
1. shoulder hump, only grizzly has it
2. size of adult. girzzly is way bigger.
3. ears. grizzly ear is shorter and rounder.
4. face, grizlly face is more dished and black is straight face.
5. claw, grizzly claw is much longer than black. |
