租巴士送我们去，可是很多人不愿意坐，所以军队也就不弄了，给我们一些补贴，让我
们开自己的车走。为什么是这样呢？因为那里还是陆地，没有车的话，就哪也去不了，
很不方便。一些人想要周末出去逛，喝酒呀、玩呀什么的，都需要车。法棱周围基本上
没有商店或着玩的地方，就是内华达州山区和沙漠那种干热干热的地形，跟戈壁滩差不
多。离法棱最近的城市是雷诺（Reno，Nevada），就是内华达州的另一个赌城。那个地
方相当繁华，很多人周末开车去那里，喝酒呀、赌博呀，尽情地玩。它旁边还有一个湖
，叫塔乎湖（Lake Taheo），是比较有名的一个大湖。很多人也会开车去那儿玩，钩个
鱼呀，烧烤呀什么的。
我们去法棱，是因为那个地方虽然偏僻，却是当年美国海军用来训练F-14飞机最好最棒
飞行员（Top Gun Pilot）的训练场。那个地方之所以有名，就是因为它有一个最佳飞
行员训练学校（Top Gun School）。现在美国人不用F-14了，那个地方就用来训练F-18

from India and dozens of Central American migrants.
Eight of the Indian citizens, including two minors, were being transported
in a truck near Mexico's border with Guatemala when they were detained.
Twenty-five Guatemalan migrants and three Salvadorans were also aboard the
vehicle.
The National Immigration Institute said Friday the truck was being driven by
a Mexican man who ignored police orders to stop.

I find the sanctimony and hypocrisy coming out of Washington very annoying.
"Chemical weapons!" which of course are nasty, cruel, and inhumane, have
been framed as the ultimate affront to all morality.
But land mines, which the US refuses to eschew, and cluster bombs, which the
US also refuses to eschew, and so-called "collateral damage" from drone
strikes -- meaning civilian maiming and deaths of old people, noncombatants,
women, and children -- somehow escape this calculus.
