多谢详图。这样的炮配制有些古怪，但是也算是能够work吧，估计也是由于不好用，以
后就淘汰了，跟英国的defiant fighter一样，最终被淘汰了：
英国的defiant fighter只有后炮塔对后方开炮，前方没有武器！
不过说起来，只有一边的炮火能够使用也不是什么新鲜事情，古时候的船舷装炮的军舰
都是只有一边对敌的，除非两边受敌，双边齐射，叫做double broadside...
北洋的队形确实是有问题：

I don't understand why you can't see the plain simple fact. A rapid firing
gun can easily adjust aim point based on previous shots to achieve good
accuracy. While a slow firing gun have to calculate aim point each time,
thus not as accurate. So the fact that sailor of Beiyang, who used slow
firing gun, achieved a comparable hit rate when compared with the Japanese
sailors, shows their gunnery skills were on par, if not better than the

accepted. You can choose to believe that, but that's your decision and
freedom;
Second, as the arguments go, hit rates cannot be used to measure the gunners
of different gun types. You keep using it as a measurement of gunnery
skills...
It is generally accepted as the gunnery training of Beiyang is inferior due
to the lack of ammo, as indicated by many authors. Of course, you can choose

US firm Raytheon has unveiled its anti-aircraft laser at the Farnborough
Airshow in Hampshire.
The Laser Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) can either be used on its own or
alongside a gunnery system.
In May, the laser was used to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in
a series of tests.
Raytheon said the solid state fibre laser produces a 50 kilowatt beam and
can be used against UAV, mortar, rockets and small surface ships.

suggested by many authors, we have all the stars aligned.
Not necessarily. Zhiyuan's 8 inch guns were older design, with shorter
barrels. Even if it had longer range, the aiming system back those days can
't take advantage of it. Battles still need to be fought well within both
gun's maximum range. |

Now you are wrong on that. The number of hits recorded on the Japanese
ships indicate BeiYang's ships actually had a comparable, if not higher, hit
rate than the Japanese ships. Gunnery training is not the problem.
The problem is with the guns, and the type of shots fired. Japanese guns
had around 5 times rate of fire. So with roughly same accuracy, Japanese
ships are landing 5 times more shots. Also, with quicker firing gun, you

Second, you cannot compare the gunnery training of different types of guns
with the same hit rate number: machine gunners and riflemen cannot be judged
by the same hit rate.

First, the number of hits landed on Japanese ships are in Japanese records.
Use that figure, and BeiYang's ship's rate of fire, you can easily arrive
at a figure that shows their accuracy is not a problem compared to world
standard of those days.
Second, indeed you can't compare gunnery training on different types of guns
. The rapid firing gun of Japanese ships are much easier to operate and
should naturally have better accuracy. Your analogy would have been more
