Before I shot the first rifle, I went to an individual rifle class.
After that I did not go to any formal classes.
So I would suggest better to take at least one class. |

昨天晚上4个小时理论课，今天白天4个小时靶场练习，下星期二拿证明书。这样，终于
把田纳西州handgun carry permit申请必须的课给上完了。上来灌点体会。
1.田纳西州的permit没有特定要求，conceal 或open都随便。结合我上个星期进的第二
支枪的经历（另文再灌），总体感觉这个乡下州对枪支算比较友好的。课程一般要求至
少8个小时。正好离家只有两个迈的地方新开了家小店，提供了于我非常有利的课程---
分两个阶段，周五晚上上4小时理论，周六再去靶场4小时。这个靶场也就是GoodToCU介
绍过的当地一个管理的比较好的公共靶场，5.5刀两个小时，正好我也想去见识见识。
2.理论课虽然讲4个小时，但实际上差不多不到3个小时左右也就结束了。总共12个学员
，6男6女，靠目测30岁以下3个 30-40一个，40到50两个，剩下的起码在50以上的，其
中有两个我认为应该在60岁以上的妇女。black就只有一个，小女孩，从来没碰过枪。
不黑不白就我一个。剩下全是白的。不太清楚是不是跟我住的地区有关。

如果不是绿卡或公民，hunting license是必须的,不论长枪短枪。这个是federal law
不是加州规定。
弹夹容量不能超过十发。超过十发，可以把弹夹disassemble当rebuild part进。但是
大店一般是不会这么干的。小店价格又上去了。
handgun要去查ca handgun roster。有些manufacturer，像S&W，他们的gun不光有
model#，还有manufacturer SKU#。同样的枪，不同的弹夹SKU#可能就不同。就算换了
弹夹，也是off list的，除非SSE，不然不能register。
长枪可以去查calguns的flowchart。
建议第一把先选大众的型号，一般都有加州版，质量也比较稳定。 |

把几种常见的手枪租来打了一遍，然后决定自己买一只。
我买枪的标准，实用性功能性精准度等等不是最重要的考量。家防是目的之一，但主要
是还是出于对枪本身的喜爱，就像美女们买LV包包而不是更结实的编织袋一样。
所以第一只枪想买自己很喜欢的Beretta 92FS INOX，看中了这一只：

要严格，管理要松一些的 - 我说管制严，管理松 - 因为美国不要license, 但是用一
些莫明其妙的限制管制了硬件。
现在纽约州通过的SB法律，结果是造成的管理和管制比大多数其它发达国家都要严。

what I will buy for my wife. Here are the reasons why:
1. Under stress, it is hard to shoot accurately, especially handgun.
2. If assailant charges at you, one 9mm won't do a thing. You need to apply
3-4 shots. This needs extensive training.
3. Semi-auto handguns are complicated/less reliable. You need to know how to
clear type I and type 2 malfunction.
