LSU in the title game? It could happen
They say the grass is always greener, but in Baton Rouge these days, the
grass appears to be tastier, too. It’s been the unlikeliest of seasons for
LSU, but after Saturday’s 24-21 win over Alabama, the 8-1 Tigers hover over
college football’s four remaining unbeaten teams, perched above in the No.
5 spot of this week’s latest BCS standings.

Haden_240 The NCAA’s decision Wednesday to reinstate Auburn quarterback Cam
Newton without penalty despite the prohibited actions of his father
surprised USC Athletic Director Pat Haden.
Haden oversees a program that was hit with some of the harshest NCAA
sanctions in college sports history, in part because Reggie Bush’s parents
were found to have accepted prohibited extra benefits from agents and would-
be sports marketers. Bush’s stepfather also helped set up a fled... 阅读全帖

Ohio State University is potentially facing the most severe NCAA penalties
to its storied football program as punishment for coach Jim Tressel's
failure to disclose his knowledge of violations and use of ineligible
players during this past season.
In a "notice of allegations" given to Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee on
Friday and obtained by The Dispatch, the NCAA accused Tressel of dishonesty
for hiding violations by seven current and former players who sold awards
and equipment to a tattoo-... 阅读全帖

Let’s face it, our favorite college programs cheat. That thoroughbred
running back who’s expected to anchor your school’s offense over the next
three or four years didn’t come cheap. Sure, your school may not have been
caught lately, but that’s probably because the coaches and boosters do it
more discreetly than others — and kudos to them, because getting away with
it isn’t always easy. According to Insider Higher Ed, almost half of all
big-time college sports programs have been punished for ma... 阅读全帖

It's been more than 11 months since the NCAA Committee on Infractions hit
USC with the harshest penalties in the modern era of college football since

Glad to hear that everyone is pouring out respect for Roy Williams.
Regardless of how you feel about him leaving KU, he gave us some great years
and Final Four appearances. He deserves to be held in high esteem at Kansas
and hope one day he will get his due at AFH!

Emails show NCAA was out of control in USC case
By Ryan Phillips
In June 2010, the NCAA hit USC’s football program with the harshest
sanctions since SMU received the death penalty in 1985. For years USC fans
and administrators have contended that the NCAA was far too harsh in its
punishment of the school’s football program as a result of the Reggie Bush
scandal.
People close to the school have repeatedly insis... 阅读全帖

WASHINGTON – When one of Osama bin Laden's most trusted aides picked up the
phone last year, he unknowingly led U.S. pursuers to the doorstep of his
boss, the world's most wanted terrorist.
That monitored phone call, recounted Monday by a U.S. official, ended a
years-long search for bin Laden's personal courier, the key break in a
worldwide manhunt. The courier, in turn, led U.S. intelligence to a walled
compound in northeast Pakistan, w... 阅读全帖

The Reformation did not convert the people of Europe to orthodox
Christianity through preaching and catechisms alone. It was the 300 year

shame of western civilization." The Church created the elaborate concept of

China in particular appeared to be the perfect negative example of this
ruthless power struggle. In 1884, for example, a Japanese official published
an account of recent travels in China that captured this sentiment in the
harshest imaginable terms. The Chinese, Sugita Teiichi wrote, were narrow-
