1) 因为老美妇女蜂拥而至,所以不适合中国人,因为有语言文化社会关系上的
disadvantage. 这也是为什么中国女生比男生转public health相对较多的缘故之一,因
为不是纯技术活,不是靠敲敲键盘或者倒倒试剂瓶就能把工作做好,但比起整天发发垃圾
文章的工作职业的前景和社会的训练不可同日而语,如果口语社交能力过不了关自然也
别进这个门.我很欣赏楼主不畏己之短去拼他人之长,这也是为什么生统的围城效应不会
在Epidemiology上发生的那么快,毕竟敢去和能去跟老美竞争他们的热门专业的中国人
相对少得多,大多都是在技术领域徘徊.
2) 工作机会总体而言是不算多,无非在各级政府的health department,一些healthcare
的教育机构,大学里任教或者做科研,药厂的opening都很少.不过那得看跟什么专业比.
你把生物的postdoc training都当作正式工作,全美除了IT哪个领域能望其项背?
3) "不是每个做生物的人都恨生物。" 这条不反对,不过跟前两点无关,也不能用来
justify生物比public health优越.

发帖数: 488 | 5 看见这个帖子进来说一下，Public Health确实是美国ladies非常喜欢的field，是不是
首选不知道。我曾经参加一个州政府资助的health实习，基本都是Public Health的学
生，美国人，好学校的，Phd也有，基本全是女生。
LZ是PHD，在学校做偏research，这个还算中国人比较适合的。至于去公司政府，尤其
是政府，对语言和writing（不是research writing，是政府报告的writing），要求非
常高。确实是report in and out every day。每天很多meeting，field and
telephone，和各级人员各种背景的人交流，写报告总结。
别人写1个小时可以搞定的，我得写几个小时。要跟踪政府法规，法律文件晦涩难懂，经常一弄就是上百页，要读懂然后给头们写summary做presentation，大量的writing让我们这样的外国人工作中花的时间和精力比美国人多得多，太累了，还不如做技术省心。
而且这样的工作是多是有社会服务的目的在里边，是给美国人服务，我们自己适应这
里的语言文化就不容易，更何谈去做这样的服务。 |

化学PhD，工作难找，在家带孩子好几年，现在准备重新读个master，本来是想读
Biostatistics，但是最近local想去的这个学校新推出了Health Data Science的方向
，现在比较纠结应该学哪一个方向。我数学还不错，但是编程方面完全没有基础，这样
是不是学biostatistics更容易上手？还有就是工作，毕竟学费挺高的，而且就是奔着
找工作去的，Biostatistics硕士和 Health Data Science硕士哪一个比较好找工作呢

health的话，估计话很多。
上次还报名了home health，我说只打算看我家附近的，我开车特弱智。后来还真有一
个中国病人，还是cardiac的，但是要抽血pt/inr，俺都没抽过血，惭愧呀。电话那边
很惊讶“你真的是rn吗？”以前的医院是绝对不允许start iv, draw blood的，我们连
central line 的血都不让抽，所以什么也不会。曾经想学来着，但是iv team的头说只
可以在模型上学不允许碰病人，没办法，那个医院specialize的很厉害。所以打算最近
去学学这个。我家里人一直不明白我都干了n年了，竟然不会扎针和抽血。 |

过3个月，最近参加了一个为期2个半月的rn-refresher program, 有大概一个多月med/
surg 的clinical internship。 现在已经结束了，现在准备找工作，应为我只有
diploma,医院是没指望了，只有nursing home, and home health care可能会有机会，
但是对home health了解不多，我是在北加州，不知道薪水是怎么算的，我是想做part
time, 因为还是想继续读书到BSN， 应为没有学分可以转吧，顺利的话可能要4年吧，
本人对收入要求不高，能应付开销就可以，希望有HH 经验的姐妹分享信息， 不胜感激
，经常上allnurses.com很多有用的信息，不过还是希望可以得到国人的指导。 |

的话选择会多一些，可是现在还没有两地的打算。查了一下public health 课程只有
Principles of Biostatistics， Applied Biostatistics 和Multivariate
Biostatistics 三门统计课。其他都是Epidemiology, clinical trial 和health
policy方面的课。读完了这样的programm，再考个SAS证书，统计的工作好不好找啊？

首先，巴马care绝对是烂的。根本不sustainable，完全是面子工程，就是巴马给主党
拉票的手段。这个是共识不多说了。
但是巴马care烂，不代表repel and replace容易。
首先，bipartisan的说，cover全民basic的医保是合情合理的。
其次，福利就像水，已经被巴马任性的泼出去了，怎么收回来？何况每个
congressman都有自己选区要讨好。
再说，很多rusty belt的trump voter是指望这个health care的。
所以，问题不是要不要改，而是如何在基本coverage不减太多，premium不增太多的前
提下改。
这个太难了，我觉得基本是mission impossible，除非大动作。个人认为trump拿fda
