的签证应该很容易。你让他们尽快定个日子并且发邀请函过来 （把你近期的 time
schedule 说一下)，这样你好去拿 business trip 签证。只要他们的邀请函还没有过
来，你就不用太着急。他们应该给你几个 tentative 的 date, 然后你从中间挑一个比
较适合你的时间。
既然发生这种事情，你就告诉他们你觉得这对你来说是件很重要的事情，希望以最好的

Research seminar做的看起来不错。系里一个著名的韩国教授，专门来找我说话，说做
的好，”very calm”。他不是search committee 的但是感觉在系里很有影响。晚上
的dinner，他说本来不想去，因为我做的好，特意参加。在饭桌上还夸做的好。Search
committee 里的人也赞同的笑。感觉有个好的开头。然而第二天的teaching seminar
，做的很不好。早早就讲完了，结果留了 大量时间给人们提问。很狼狈。我薄厚导师
曾经专门和我说，要“slow, slow, slow”, 还要我把这几个字写在纸上。可是到底没
有经验。而且准备的也不充分。Slides上居然有明显的错误。第一次面试，对见什么人
，说什么话，也没有经验。回头想想很多答的不得体。虽然teaching差一些，但想到
research讲的不错，或许综合起来不太差。
回去后是漫长的等待。两个礼拜，一个月，两个月，知道没戏了，却没有任何消息。以

给你的建议也不过就是: don't try to time the market. 我觉得最主要的是要看你是不
是需要买房子, 和你是不是mentally和financially准备好了. 然后你看一段时间, 在这
段window里找一个比较好的时间进入. 预测明天会发生什么一般是没用的.
现在的market不如几个月前那么hectic是有很多原因的. 从市场上来看, 去年和冬天积压
了很多buyers. 这些人已经知道要买什么, 而且等了很久了, 所以看见满意的房子, 就会
jump on it, 而且因为曾经被别人outbit过, 所以会出高价. 现在这些人大部分已经买到
房了. 仍在市场上的很多买主都是今年开始看房的, 是以前半年卖的房子作为基准, 所以

escrow都好像是close那天才开始想干什么，早定好这周一转钱，签document，因为其
他时间都太忙不能请假，银行非要在最后一刻才把loan document发出来，谁知系统又
出故障，file了一个critical ticket，折腾半天才搞定。明知道下午2点前不能wire
transfer，escrow也是磨磨蹭蹭，最后到1点半才弄出确切的我要wire的钱数，我告诉
他们说我不介意多转点钱回头退也行，那边却唧唧歪歪的不愿意。好不容易把钱转了，
document都签了，今天银行又打电话过来说他们系统又出问题了，贷款居然从早上弄到
下午都wire不出去，所以今天有可能close不了，他大爷的他们是银行啊，天天就干这
点事还搞不定，本想着今天下午就拿到钥匙了，看来还得再等一天，气死我了。
BTW，银行是BOA，他们的系统好像work的时间没有down的时间多。 |

confusing and staff is not very helpful. Your parents need to take train for
connecting flights after international arrival. There are 3 stops depending
