Orphans in the Sky》，Robert A. Heinlein的早期作品。结果就凑成三十四部吧。而
且，刚才又听完了一般音频书，《Four Against the Arctic》，David Roberts。但是
，那个算是听书，不算读书吧。所以，总数还是三十四部。
前几天读过Greg Bear的《Hull Zero Three》，一个星际方舟上面的离奇故事。就对于
星际方舟的这个话题感兴趣起来。Heinlein的这本《Orphans in the Sky》可以算是早
期的星际方舟题材的书，出版于1941年，算起来到今年也快到七十年了，明年就整整七
十年。
整部书很短，只有一百多页。一艘去外星殖民的星际方舟上面发生了哗变，懂得星际航
行的船员们都遇难，剩下的船员们都不懂得如何如何控制这条船。好在这条船的自动化
程度很高，船员的基本生活可以保障。
许多代人以后，船员们都不知道在飞船外面还有一个宇宙，整个飞船就是他们自己的宇
宙，社会制度蜕变成了封建制，所谓的船长就成了国王，“科学家”们就成了教师阶层

昨天刚刚做完统计，今年一共读了三十三本书，恰巧今天赶在年底又读完了一部《
Orphans in the Sky》，Robert A. Heinlein的早期作品。结果就凑成三十四部吧。而
且，刚才又听完了一般音频书，《Four Against the Arctic》，David Roberts。但是
，那个算是听书，不算读书吧。所以，总数还是三十四部。

好的科幻，基本上就是借助一个设定来阐述自己的政治社会主张的，例如heinlein的
starship troopers。当然，那个电影基本上没有保留原著的精华

"Dune", by Frank Herbert. Don't bother with the sequels, they only get worse.
"Foundation", like you said. The sequels on this one are actually pretty good.
"Citizen of the Galaxy", by Robert A. Heinlein. My friend's dad read this one 27 times as a kid.
"Tunnel in the Sky", by R. Heinlein. This one is one of the coolest things that guy ever wrote, IMHO.

他老人家有名归有名，巨头归巨头，在这段时间至少有两个人压在他头
上：一个是老板 John W. Campbell （Asimov 有的作品还是他慧眼识
英雄给予指点的），另一个则是比他还红，甚至二战时还介绍工作给
他的 Heinlein。
Asimov 好像是到写出 Nightfall 时才一鸣惊人。但他当时真的很年轻
，不过二十初头的小伙子就能跟这些大家平起平坐。（当然有人是慢热
型的，Heinlein要到三十几岁才正式全职写作） |

三体算是很出名的中文科幻小说，是刘慈欣的作品，人称大刘。我也没读过。哈哈哈
这三个人：Robert A Heinlein，Isaac Asimov，Arthur C. Clarke被称为三巨头，其
中Asimov(阿西莫夫）好像很有名，写了很多书。 |

的，因为他们的社会里没有人类那么多需要笑来抵御的无奈。。。 现在在看的 《In
the Name of a Rose》里有个盲修道士，坚持说圣经里从来没有记录基督没笑过，因而
笑是对恶事物的纵容对圣洁的轻视，然后主人公就引用许多经典反驳说笑如何对教徒有
益blah blah blah。
进而想，这个如果不是小说，我可能不会想去看中世纪那些修道士的神学/哲学辩论，
也很难想象non-fiction能怎么把你说我说的来回写精彩。
Non-fiction 比较low commitment，很容易达到开卷有益的级别，但真的写得抓人的也
少数；小说看不下去/觉得不合口味的更多，但如果中奖了会遇到魂灵都给吸进去，并
能长见识的。
另外散文体我喜欢看中文的，英文的以前Charles Lamb之类很好看，但当代的一下子想
不出谁。 |

她取名Jane。没人知道她父母是谁，她孤独地成长，不与任何人来往。直到1963年，她

句读之不知，惑之不解
没有发明用空格的文字就是悲催啊。原来拉丁文也是没有空格的，到七世纪以后，大家
发现这个太坑爹了，就开始用空格分开词。中文可能是现在很少的不用空格的文字了。
我就记得小时候读了很多Arthur Hailey的书，他的书比较技术流一些。non-fiction看
了好些Asimov的，其实我看他的non-fiction还早过他的fiction，基地系列什么的。记
得他的书，中文好些都是一个叫做卞毓麟的翻译的，好像是个天文教授。卞毓麟据说是
中国唯一interview Asimov本人的。
印象深刻的是Asimov的《Words of Science》，对于科技词汇的词根和历史有非常生动
的解释，还有就是他的关于阿波罗十三的记述
小时候我们家附近有一个少儿图书馆，我放学后经常在里面待到五点半，然后回家吃饭
。初中的时候，看见了Carl Sagan的《Cosmos》，后来来美国，还买了一本精装版的
Coffee book 《Cosmos》怀旧
红高粱有些印象，特别是杀人剥皮的那段。苏童的也看过几本，但是对于fiction总是

看看产量吧，四百多本书，这个世界上还有几人有那么高产？
从莎士比亚到宇宙航行，他的non-fiction基本上也是无人能及……
不过单纯从小说来说，Heinlein比他不差…… |

David Brin还有Greg Bear，都是大家
Asimov在科幻界威望很高，有武林掌门的意思。Heinlein虽然写得好，但是无奈在武林
中没有Asimov吃得开...
Foundation。
不看完这一系列，不看机器人系列，会非常的不完整。。。。 |

that the term came about because people regarded the process of psychiatry
as being like head-shrinking because it reduced the size of the swollen egos

要是看深刻，大家都去看书了。电影本来就是大众媒体，要深刻还是要去看书
赞影评。最近你去影院看了很多电影啊，这么看下去会不会每个月电影票钱超过买菜钱
？我曾经有一次超过过。
Elysium听介绍挺有意思的，最近这类题材比较多，Hunger Games, In Time, Never
Let me go,都是凸现阶级对立，贫富分化，而用科幻的外衣包装。这些电影比大多数机
器人大战恐龙之类的科幻深刻多了。 |
