我是女生，不吸烟，无宠物，两三天做一次饭，大部分时间很安静。

步行6分钟是LIRR火车Hempstead 专线 Bellerose站，家门口公交Q36，N24 平均10分钟
一趟去Flushing和长岛东部，非常方便，步行距离之内有超市，CVS，Chase Bank, 星
巴克, Staple，Dunkin’ Donuts和中餐厅
治安上非常安全，大多数是意大利裔的白人和亚裔韩国人为主，邻里非常友善，冬天有
时候都互相帮忙扫雪撒盐，因为这一地区的犯罪和交通事故率都极低，车子在这里上保
险都比其他地区便宜很多
房子整体上是独栋的House，房东是白人，人很好，厨房公用有微波炉和烤箱，洗澡间
公用，2个厕所，一楼1个2楼1个，洗衣机烘干机一应俱全，供暖很好。
房间有15平米左右，$700/M ，算上水电网大概一个月760，很大很明亮，采光很好，复

位置在Levittown, 可以搜索 Hempstead Turnpike & RT-107看到大致位置。 这个三室
两厅，客厅和三个卧室，厕所在二楼，厨房连同饭厅在一楼，有两个独立的出入。面积
很大（别问我到底多少，我没量过，不过确实很大）。楼上全部地毯，餐厅地板。交通
很方便，周围步行距离就有Target, Pathmark,Stop&Shop, KFC, Subway, Taco Bell,
Boston Market, RiteAid, Blockbuster, McDonalds，还有一个中学，有trace可以锻
炼。离火车站大概几分钟的车程。
屋主是台湾来的老夫妇，爱台湾也爱中国，比我还拥护统一。人是超级好，如果不是因
为工作原因要relocation，真的是长住的好机会。房钱要的不多，包括全部utilities
。可以共享上网，虽然效果不是特别好。
另外，老夫妇要求房客是中国人，会说国语，哈哈哈哈。 |

，缺口很大。。。

问题是这个标准和大量的上机考试是完全分不开的。整个是个package deal, 没有那个
学校（也许不从政府拿钱的私立学校除外）能只用这个新标准而不需要参加大量的上机
考试。这种考试就用来不只是评估学生，更重要的是评估老师，评估学校，评估学区。
这么说吧，就想想中国的高考指挥棒。这样的用来评估学区学校和老师的考试就不可避
免的成为威力巨大的考试指挥棒。

纯属一家之言，给没去过的朋友行个方便
如有不同观点的，欢迎跟帖，让大家能得到更客观的信息
从NOLA开车到休斯顿，不停的话大约5个小时
如果带着孩子，路上歇息2次，大约为6.5小时
如果运气背，象我这次周五回来，遇上堵车，费时整整8.5小时
去休斯顿干嘛？说实话，没什么著名景点也没有国家公园可玩
除了换护照，给孩子办旅行证，就是吃了
小龙虾是湖南人，可惜休斯顿没什么湘菜，那就川菜吧
说到川菜就不得不提“蜀风园”了
据说大厨原是老四川的大厨，后自立门户跟人合开了“蜀风园”
于是新的最火的川菜馆诞生了，能做红2家饭馆，厨师还是有2把刷子的
推荐菜有香水鱼，毛血旺，馋嘴鱼（最辣），豆瓣鱼（味道超赞，适合爱辣不敢吃太辣
的）
三鲜锅巴，馋嘴鸡等等
当然，它家的凉菜我也是每次必买，混3样可以任你挑选3个，牛肉干，牛百叶都很好
这个凉菜我通常不怎么吃，留着打包第二天带回来
吃得觉得好的朋友，结账时可以买它家自制的辣酱回来，2刀一盒

"都"? 14 school district (hewlett/woodmere), rockville center, and merrick/
bellmore are all decent school districts. Wantagh and levittown are also
nice, although too far away from city by train. But of course they are not
at great neck/jericho level, but good enough for me.
There are some 比较差 towns in the south, like hempstead, freeport etc. If
you give south a try, and stroll around northern part of Rockville center

头一个问题：在NY打车，需要提前订好吗？还是像国内招手停，容易叫车的？
需要从DOWNTOWN JAVITS CENTER 去到 125 Pinelawn Road, Melville, NY (about 40
miles). 估计全程打车不便宜。查了下公共交通， 让这样走：
