《America Alone: The end of the world as we know it》
副标题的意思是说”我们知道的这个世界”的结束，西方世界的结束。
此书作者Mark Steyn是美国保守派，支持共和党，支持伊拉克战争。我发此读书笔记并
不表示我赞同其观点。完全是开卷有益，美国右派的思想，对大多数中国人来说是陌生
的。但我的确认为作者所讲述的问题是真实的而且是严重的。我理解这本书最主要的思
想并不是人口，或者伊斯兰，而是西方文明的衰落。对于欧洲福利制度，社会民主主义

更不是每回都n^2。而且还要算出概率，需要8次的占多少比例，需要1次的占多少，需
要粗暴穷举的占多少。
这才能衡量出你算法的精确度啊，如果碰巧赶上已经sorted的（given ascending或者
descending）题目中也没这个限制性条件，那就更好办了，都是一次性，有手指头巴拉
巴拉就行了。
这是原题，上面没做任何限制，所以才是open talk，也就是sorted和unsorted的解法
你都得考虑到。

，原房主自然不会修补的，我们拿房子的时候都傻眼了，本人不handy，老婆更别提，
只好拍了照上来问大家了，求逐条指点。
1. 图一，back yard,这后院子真心不能看了，左半图秃草坪，蒲公英什么的不说了
，右半图那大片小紫花都快把整个院子侵蚀了。这草坪是不是没救了？只有整片的请人
来换草皮了？自己杀杂草还可能么？自己是不是杀不完？而且家里有小宝，喷大量除草
剂的话，宝宝万一跑到院子里捡个什么塞嘴里也不安全？
2. 图二，front yard，很多杂草蒲公英，问题同上条，前后院共约10，000sq fts
，求推荐lawn mower。
3. 图三，roof，看房和inspection是冬天，上面mose大片，inspection说roof状况
良好,估计装了有13年左右，还有大概至少10年以上的寿命，但如果不除mose，可能损
害shingle。现在夏天了，好像mose几乎没有了，就左半图，靠屋檐那儿用红线标出来

上大学新生入学体检的时候第一次检查出来，众目睽睽下几个肝感觉阳性的同学给点名

Lake Louise（五星）今天日出时间是7点，说是说看日出，其实是看第一缕阳光照亮湖
边的山头，实际是看不到日出的。由于在青年旅馆洗漱不是很方便，所以比较提前5点
40就起床了，好在跟东部有2个小时时差，其实正相当于我平时起床的时间，所以也不
是那么的煎熬。离住的地方还是有点远的，大概20分钟drive。湖附近有几个比较昂贵
的旅馆，但是看上去view真是不错啊。
到停车场大约6点40，可是没有明确标志说哪是湖，可能是太显而易见了吧，我问了人
，背着三脚架一路往湖边跑，没跑2分钟，发现湖就在眼前了，放心了。支好架子，6点
45，正正好好。
四处拍拍走走，选了个满意的位置，等待阳光。清晨的Lake Louise是最美的时候，等
我下午来看的时候满是游人，湖面也没有那么宁静了，风吹起来，山的倒影就没了.这
时的湖面上有一层淡淡的雾气，看上去格外的宁静，湖水的颜色没有中午那么耀眼，但
反而多了一份沉静。像被泼了墨，很水墨画的感觉
到了7点20，最好的光线一过，毫不犹豫，立刻快跑回车里，因为今天早上还要去另外

哈哈，说道曹操，曹操就到！既然有人想起我了，当然就不能辜负大家的期望 :)
今年７／４长周末，一年一度的海边度假又到了。首选当然还是Delaware！ 几年前，
我与儿子在这里的Fishing Piers上首次钓鱼；几十条Spot，将我们引入了一个精彩而
迷人的世界。而摸螺，更是Cape Henlopen的一个保留项目，也是我们选择这个Beach的
主要原因之一。
这一带的海滩，是美国东岸有名的摸螺，挖Clam的胜地。年年夏天，每天退潮后，来自
各地的人们，三三两两，拿着耙子，提着桶，挽起裤腿，各显神通，尝试运气。我是数
年前跟朋友们来到这里，看见几个韩国人提着满桶的海螺上岸时，被这项活动深深吸引
住的。茫茫大海里，居然有这等好货！别人能摸到，我也能！从此，我每次到这里，都

自从数年前看过冲浪肥猫的美文“顺便爬个杀死他”之后， 心中就长出了根野草， 一
直茁壮成长， 时不时挠一下， 心痒难耐。 在这个刚刚过去的长周末， 终于把它连根
拔起了。
要感谢kzhu老兄的周密计划和强大的后勤准备， 再加上白菜和jane两位偶像级元老的
技术加持和装备支援， 终于让菜鸟我也达成了登上shasta峰顶的心愿。
文笔不好， 只记录一下流水帐， 讨论一下自己的一些教训总结
周六9点多到达bunnys flat trailhead， 装包上路已经是十点半。 吭哧吭哧走到
horse camp， 才得知这里有着充足的水源， 不免后悔白背了一袋加三瓶水走了超过1.
6mile/1000 ft的路程。在这里碰到3个stanford读书的中国学生， 花钱请了向导带领
登山学习。
再往上走，快到50/50的地方觉得受不了多余的重量， 就一口气喝掉一小瓶运动饮料，

2015年的夏初， 经历了年初的两次失败之后， 终于爬到了Mt Shasta的顶峰， 这是我
第二次登顶，比起此次登顶的兴奋， 更加高兴的是比起2013年第一次登顶的显著进步
