I'm from this town, and also a former violist (now attorney). What makes
this such a great story is that our town (Mastic/Shirley) is very poor, but
our school districts and the teachers there really foster talent. I wound up
going to a top tier law school, still keep up with my music, and could have
wound up in a far worse position if it were not from the encouragement of
