New York Times on Sunday (Mar. 15) had a critique about two books, the first
about disappearing hutongs in Beijing (in web page 2) and the second,
receding Old Shaghai (starting at web page 6).

Horizon.
The critique can be found by goping to www.nytimes.com and search with "
hutong."

有“文化味”，实在是难以翻译。为此北京地铁方面还曾提出向市民征集英文意译名称
的邀请。不过目前官方的意译站名还没有正式开始采用。《华尔街日报》昨天可能是等
不及了，该报中文版网站“中国实时报”刊文，贴出了一张“英文直译”的站名地图。
由于这份直译地图实在太奇葩，中国读者阅后纷纷表示：喷饭了……
网友吐槽：住在“眺望首都”的朋友们，你们还好吗？
下面我们来感受一下这张地图吧：
《华尔街日报》直译北京地铁站英文名，如果把它们再直接翻译回中文有何感觉？(点

据称，《华尔街时报》的编辑是从本月早些时候香港地铁系统站名被直译成英语，其中
包括了"Permanent Security”(恒安：永恒的安全）、“Bamboo Basket Bay”（簸箕
