国内临床本科毕业（不是牙科），但几乎没有在医院工作过，来美国后试过考波，能力
不够放弃了，不再考虑。除了ESL，没有在美国读过书。
来美国后做了好几年家庭主妇，现在家庭面临危机，需要自己挣钱。英语很一般，办事
交流没问题，但是电视剧没有字幕大概一半会听不懂，一群老外们聊天经常也是听不懂。
nurse和 dental hygienist差不多都要学四年，不知道哪个容易毕业？哪个毕业了更好
找工作？
我感觉似乎dental hygienist工作需要的英语范围要窄一些，是不是多接触了就会上手
得快些？
accounting完全没有背景，只是觉得自己的性格对数字那些还比较仔细，每个公司都需
要会计，是不是工作机会会多很多？

DH和dental asistant 是完全不同的职业， 其关系就像 RN 和nursing assistant 的
关系。 Dental hygienist(洁牙师， 国内由dentist兼任） 所要求的training比 DA要多得多。学校里有自己的clinic，便于学生实习。 我也听说是要求自己找病人， 也被一位学DH的邻居联系过， 她需
要各种不同病情level的病人。
这个专业前几年也是属于好找工作的，像nursing一样， 现在已经风光不再了。另外，
也看你所在的区域。 |

因为不像nurse需求量那么大。但是如果跟nurse工作相比，dental hygienist的工作明
显要轻松很多，但工资显然也要低些，你要查看你们那地区dental hygienist的需求量
，如果还很有市场，我建议读dental hygienist。不过我猜想应该像我们这儿一样，大
家都更倾向于dental hygienist。我们这儿dental hygienist的program竞争也很激烈

发帖数: 71 | 16 请问大家洗牙的时候，hygienist 是一直坐在一边，比如你的右边（如果她是右撇子）
，让你的头一直向右转向她，还是随着洗牙的位置不同，围着你的头换位置？比如如果
她从你的左边开始，她一开始坐在你的左边，慢慢移动位置最后转到右边。这个过程中
她会让你的头也随着转换。
我自己的经历是，以前（不同的牙医）都是hygienist从一边转到另一边。 昨天的
hygienist让我从头到尾都向右转向她。整整一个小时，脖子酸的很。complain 了一下
,想下次换一个hygienist，office manager告诉我说，他们都是这样的，坐在一边，不
换位置。
有谁知道，坐在一边不挪位置是规范的吗？ |

There is a sort of shortage of dental hygienists in most areas of the
country.
I think that a GC is required for practicing dental hygiene and dentistry in
the state of New York. I am not aware that other states have such
requirement.
It pays well and it is very easy to find a job as a dental hygienist. |

所的一个HYGIENIST洗牙洗得真的很好, 这也是我没有换牙医的主要原因.不过绝对不可
能有COPAY WAIVE一说, 一些贵的服务收费觉得比其他地方贵,所以也就不推荐了, 而且
也不在FOSTER CITY.如果有要INFO的, 请短信我.
另外, 我觉得一定要找有HYGIENIST的诊所, 很多人都以为牙医亲自出马洗牙好, 其实
真的不是如此. 牙医和HYGIENIST的TRAINING是不一样的, 对于洗牙来说, HYGIENIST要

比较麻烦，年纪小的时候做起来就容易多了），如果你先生的智齿从来没有发炎过，也
没有给他自己造成任何影响（比如因为对不齐，会划破嘴巴里面，之类的）， 那就不
需要拔。
是根据我自己的经历讲的啦，我跟牙医们斗争了好多年，为了保住我的智齿。
我的hygienist跟我大概有7年，前4年她一直会让我拔掉智齿，因为我发炎很严重，会
到需要开发炎药退烧药的地步，但是那4年是因为我的智齿还在长。 期间我听她的建议
去跟牙医做过appointment咨询，当时的牙医告诉我说如果要拔，就把4个都拔掉（我当
时长出2个，2个还在牙床里，于是他说要切开牙床），我的所有牙医都会建议我一次把
所有的智齿都拔掉（不管歪还是不歪），我很不喜欢于是就继续拖着。前年终于所有的
智齿都长了出来，我的hygienist前后大概帮我找了3位牙医来看，最后他们得出结论是
，算了不要拔了你赢了。
不过他们同意我不拔的主要原因是我牙齿真的很好，很整齐，智齿也几乎没有问题，上

给一个傻子牙医专门开个房间叫他去帮人洗牙的：—）
工作强度和医院的护士没法比，医院护士的工作你考古吧，你要是一年两三趟洗牙不拉
下的话应该对dental hygienist的工作有个大致的了解，我常去的那个clinic，就一个
牙医，三五个hygienist，他们主管初步检查，写病史，拍片什么的，牙医只做最后的
检查，拔牙，复杂的denture修复和调试， etc。
很久以前有个hygienist和我说她的工作很好，读两年书就出来干活了。。。不知道可
靠不
我所知道的也就局限在这些了。。。 |

在国内的时候也弄过牙齿,因为蛀牙补过牙,也洗过牙,感觉国内的牙医都是全能人才,一

发现,这里的牙医分的很细,都是专门人才,下面把我接触过的分门别类简单介绍一下:
1. General Dentist 顾名思义, General Dentist主要做一般的牙齿检查或小手术,包
括一年两次的普检与洗牙,补牙,普通拔牙之类的操作.这里提一下,洗牙不是由牙医亲自
操作的,而是诊所的 Hygienist专职做这一项（我觉得做得比牙医好，因为我自己被牙

out there. I used to use another brand 电动牙刷 and my hygienist said it's
not effective and recommended me the current one. It was much more expensive

Deep cleaning 的话,dental hygienist做的更好.dental hygienist被培训2年(加上2-
3年的预科)拿执照专科就是general cleaning and Deep cleaning,技术更熟更有耐心.
periodontist更注重disease control.我自己将要进入牙医这一行,所以比较清楚. |

不是说periodontal therapy属于deep clean吗 （版上的朋友告知的，还有我自己

还有啊，当时给我洗牙的hygienist反复强调说等4次therapy做完之后，刷牙的时候我

When she hires a hygienist, she wants to know
1. Is your English fluent?
2. Can you speak Spanish?
3. Are you pretty?
I believe this is what a PT cares about when he wants to hire an assistant.
If your answer is yes yes yes, I think you will have a high chance to be
hired.
